This beautiful and immaculately restored Victorian house was once the home of acclaimed Scottish author, Neil Gunn, and is now a highly regarded bed and breakfast inn, offering high quality accommodation and warm hospitality. Moyness House is ideally located in a quiet residential street, less than 10 minutes walk from the city centre and many excellent restaurants.
Arrived to a wonderful welcome at this charming B&B. Lockdown has affected so many businesses & John was delighted to see us. He gave us a tour of his lovely house & lots of advice on places to eat out & visit. There is plenty parking on site. Always a bonus. Our room (Highland River) was on the ground floor (there are 2 downstairs & the other 5 upstairs). It was beautifully decorated & spotlessly clean. It was large with a king size bed, plenty drawers & hanging space for clothes, flat screen tv, tea & coffee making facilities (& lovely biscuits!) & an en-suite bathroom. Our room had a shower only (some have baths). It was a good size with constant hot water. There was nice touches, such as hand wash, shower gels & hand cream. Also cotton wool & buds and face cloths. Plenty towels were provided along with 2 bathrobes & the heated towel rail meant the bathroom was always nice & cosy. There was 2 chairs in the bedroom & a lovely view of the garden. Here guests are welcome to sit & relax if the weather is fine. He also keeps chickens. There is also a large, comfortable lounge for guests to use, complete with a good choice of books & lots of folders with local information on places to visit. Free WiFi is available throughout the house. Breakfast was the best we have ever had at any hotel or B&B. Choice of cereals, fruit juice, yoghurts & a delicious fresh fruit salad bowl (or all of them if you want!) Keep room for the main event though! Huge portion of bacon, sausage, haggis, black pudding, eggs (do you want one or two?), mushrooms, tomatoes, fried bread & toast. All washed down with a large pot of tea or coffee. Was absolutely fabulous & piping hot. Definitely set us up for the whole day. John & his wife were the perfect hosts & the young girl who served us breakfast was a joy. So friendly. The B&B is on a quiet residential street & only a 10 minute walk to the city centre, where there are loads of shops, bars & restaurants. Inverness is a lovely area with lots of places to explore by car too. We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing break & would not hesitate to visit again. Definitely recommend.
I stayed overnight in Inverness and am so thankful to have chosen Moyness House. My room was pristine and the shower had great water pressure and plentiful hot water. John is a fantastic host (even got me a last-minute booking at a nearby restaurant on Valentine's Day and a discount for the meal!), and breakfast is not to be missed. Location is ideal--a quick walk to everything nearby.
The Moyness is situated 6 minutes walk from the centre of Inverness, in a quiet street away from traffic. Clean, warm and tastefully decorated. Great family rooms ours had separate bedrooms for the kids and ensuite. Highly recommend the Scottish salmon and scrambled eggs, they have their own chickens so super fresh. John and his team obviously love what they do, reflected in their "Yes no problem" approach to guests. We will definitely be back to our new home in the Highlands.

A great place to start our NC500 trip. Room wasn't that big but was adequate for our requirements. We were up a set of stairs which was no problem for us but may be tricky for some people to get their luggage up. The breakfast was excellent - the nicest granola/yogurt/fruit mix I had in my whole trip. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The owner, John, recommended places to try for our evening meal.

My wife and I stayed at Moyness House for a couple of days in early September. Unfortunately we got off to a bad start when John, the host, admonished my wife for failing to put the hidden key back in the umbrella stand. He didn’t seem to realize that had he simply greeted us and opened the front door my wife wouldn’t have had to dig through an umbrella stand in the first place. John then took us to our room where he seemed to want to test our recall of his short tutorial on the plumbing issues with the toilet. It was a bad way to start. Ok, that aside John is a pleasant guy and we did arrive 5 minutes before guest opening at 4:00pm The room was clean and well appointed. The toilet required several flushes to do its work and the shower didn’t drain very well (so my wife couldn’t wash her hair). The food was good and the service friendly but the dining room was crowded and a bit disorganized. The location is a short walk away from downtown Inverness and is quite convenient to restaurants and coffee shops. Overall Moyness House is a fine place, just a bit disappointing based on our recent experience with other 4-star properties.…

One of if not the best B&B I have stayed in (and I have stayed in many) Excellent location for easy walk into Inverness City. Spotlessly clean, beautiful decor, comfy bed, fabulous en-suite, excellent breakfast and a fabulous host, John and his team who made our stay enjoyable. Will definitely be back.

We stayed one night on our way through Inverness. The host was very accommodating, helping us check in and check out a bit early and recommending restaurants for dinner. We found the room very comfortable with nice amenities. We liked the location as well, it was on a quiet street so we didn't have any disruption at night but it was also close to the center of Inverness - only a 15 minute walk to the train station. It was a very nice stay for our family of three.

Stayed here our first night on arriving in the Scottish Highlands. Conveniently located just out of the centre with parking. 15 minute walk to the main bridge. Spotless accommodation with everything you might need including the usual tea and coffee, biscuits and bottled waters. Room very spacious with a great bed. Quiet too. Breakfast a real treat cooked by John, the owner, who pops in for a wee word when the cooking is over. Great traditional brekkie with haggis and black pudding too. Highly recommended if you want a top notch B&B experience.

The room was a good size and clean with an en suite. The beds were very comfortable!! Good selection at breakfast and the team were friendly - be wary of portion sizes! We filled up on toast and fruit salad which was a huge mistake. Lots of parking and a 10 min. Maximum walk into town. Access to a sitting room with lots of books and leaflets. The owner, John, was fantastic. Nothing was too big and he had lots of helpful tips and advice whilst you are staying in Inverness.

The Moyness House is an amazing place to stay for your trip to Inverness! Moyness House is located an easy 10min walk from the centre. The room was very clean and comfortable, the house was lovely with a beautiful sitting room in the entrance and they offer free parking for all guests. The breakfast buffet was great and offered lots of different options (even gluten-free). But what makes Moyness House a special and unforgettable place is John, the owner, and his lovely team, which go up and beyond to make your stay as beautiful as possible! We can definitely recommend this place if you look for a great place that provides you a personal touch of Inverness!

We had a family vacation with 3 families and stayed at the Moyness House in Inverness. Joanna and the ladies are very on top of things and super friendly and welcoming. The rooms are very nicely decorated and clean, there is a comfy sitting parlor to relax and read or chat, the breakfast was perfect and quite enough to fill you up. It is very close to good restaurants and shops. Book with confidence, you will enjoy your stay here.

Some really good reviews about this hotel, but unfortunately as a single traveller booking a single room, you are all to often penalised for there just being one of you. None of the photos on either the website or Booking.com reflect what you get as a single room, which is basically a storage room squeezed between the kitchen & the dining room. The shower is shoe horned into an alcove in the corner of the room & the bed is against the opposite wall with the toilet right behind the pillow end of the bed, separated by a cubicle style piece of wood, with no door. Totally unacceptable that the toilet is in the corner of the bedroom. Takes "en-suite" to a new level. The pictures of this room are on this review and are not ones that are advertised with the room. To make matters worse other guests arrived back at 1AM and for some reason seemed to be able to get something to eat in the kitchen next door, making quite a bit of noise, which meant no sleep until at least 3AM. In their defence there was no room number on the door, so they probably didn't realise it was a bedroom (loosely speaking), however this shouldn't have been allowed at 1AM. They have 2 stars as the staff were pleasant, breakfast was OK and despite everything else the room was clean. I am sure that others that stay there upstairs have a good stay, but this room should be taken out of commission immediately !!…

The grounds of the guest house are beautiful as you arrive to this splendid B&B where you are greeted by the entertaining host John. We stayed in a beautiful first floor room with a large firm foam mattress (unfortunately too firm for me) bed and en suite cozy bathroom. The breakfast was as described, continental with a menu of cooked eggs and meats, including vegetarian options. John was accommodating to refrigerate a few items we had with us. A short walk and you are in the Inverness city centre with access to sightseeing, food and shopping. We would highly recommend staying at this guest house.
