This hotel is absolutely appalling. Think Fawlty Towers without the humour! And there is absolutely nothing funny about this hotel! The standards in every aspect are shocking from the state of the rooms, decor, fixtures and fittings, the bedding, the beds, lampshades are either falling...More

The drive in to Cullloden takes your break away as you see the incredible ivy covered mansion at the foot of a beautiful lawn. We stayed in the garden house, a short walk away in a large room with lovely views. The most amazing element...More
Our family had three rooms here. A beautiful property! Loved the charm of the property, but the building was a little confusing with all the stairs. The staff was very warm and welcoming to us. The dining experience was a little stuffy for us, but...More
We loved this hotel! If you stay here you MUST go into the walled garden. It is magical, especially in the evening!! Thanks to the staff for their recommendations, lovely afternoon cocktails and delicious breakfast! Thanks Ducky for the advice to have dinner at Black...More

If you read my other lodging reviews for Scotland you will see many 5 star ratings. If there was a 6th star option this one would get it. When we pulled into the drive and had our first glimpse of the expansive lawn and stately...More

So Sorry about your friend, Jan. We stayed at Culloden House with friends while we were visiting Scotland and we enjoyed our stay. The rooms are old fashioned but the bed was very comfortable and there's room to spread out. Be warned though, there is no elevator so if you decide to stay and need to avoid a lot of stairs you might want to ask for a room on a low floor. Breakfast was yummy and the bar? Loaded with fabulous Scotch! It is a quick 3 mile drive to the battlefields from there. There is also a beautiful walled garden the the grounds of the manor a nice place to sit and meditate. Hope this helps.
