We had a fantastic time at Melrose Villa. There were 6 in our group and we split into 3 of the rooms here. The manager Kenny is a total comedian with the driest sense of humor, so if you don't understand deadpan I can see how one might misconstrue his personality, but rest assured he is a fabulous guy and... Beware, when you are greeted by Kenny, the gruff and ever so uninviting hotelier who dons a mustard stained white vest to greet new guests, his first port of call is to demand your address and card details, despite paying for the full stay in advance online. He requires the security code on the back of your card and everything.... More

This horrible man dosent answer the phone and as my partner had mislaid her keys had to sleep in the breakfast room what if there was an emergency??? he takes your card details down on a piece of paper and keeps them after you leave ( even though her and her friends paid up front for their stay with no... The owner is very friendly, rooms are really nice and clean. The breakfast is super delicious. Very good location, close to the town centre and train station.Very good value for money, highly recommend.

Probably the worst value for money you'll ever experience. Tiny room and absolutely filthy. See pics. What a disappointment. The owner is a nice guy but he needs to get the cleaning up to standard. I've stayed in loads of establishments all over the UK and abroad and this was the worst I've ever encountered. The only saving grace if... More

There were rules posted everywhere. Don't touch this, don't do that. The rooms were a bit small and made even smaller with the amount of furniture stuffed in them. Couldn't open a suitcase out flat. The owner turned the heating off at night so it was a bit cold, but he did give you extra blankets. It was only five... More

there is no way to park your own car. The rooms are not very clean - especially the bathroom. Breakfast was ok. The location is very good. WLAN ist available for free. Owner has not much interest for quests.

I would give this 3.5 stars if I could! It's a good base for staying in Inverness and other hotels/B&Bs near the city centre were a lot more expensive at the time of booking. I've not stayed in many B&Bs so maybe my expectations are too high but here goes... Positives: Very good location being less than 10 minutes walk... More

I recently stayed for two nights at this B & B and was delighted with the service and place. First impression are the beautiful roses in the front garden as you approach the front door. This is a very old building but quaint. Furnishings and carpet are dated but it adds to the character of the house. Everything was clean... More

I've stayed in lots of hotels and B&Bs in Inverness over the years and I was really shocked at the disgraceful standard of the Melrose Villa. First of all, you cannot check in until 4.30pm which is completely unrealistic. I couldn't even drop my bags off. When you arrive at the dingy 80s decorated B&B there's a sign at reception... More
