We stayed in the self-catering apartment and loved its quirkiness. Nothing was too much trouble for Catherine the host. Our dog had a great time in the extensive gardens. A relaxed and homely place and we slept soundly. Ok, so yes there are a few upgrades which could be made but we found it great value for money and would definitely stay there again.
This place is a piece if history, it’s like going back in time. The hostess and her mum were amazing, nothing too much trouble. The family dogs are so so cute and friendly. Thus house is old, charming and nostalgic. If you are looking for perfect symmetry, crisp white lines then it may not be for you but we ate like royals and slept soundly so give it a go. We will be back.
Staying at this beautiful house was like stepping back in time. We visited with two big dogs and had initially been concerned that they would cause havoc however nothing phased our hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was quirky and extremely comfortable, breakfast was excellent and served in the spectacular dining room, and the grounds provided lovely walks for the dogs.
Organising our NC500 adventure this year was a challenge, but my wife did an excellent job with organising the accommodation ! Thrumster House was the one that stood out the most, it was a fantastic stay with the family. As soon as you walk into the house, you can feel the history hit you head on. It’s is a wonderful place to stay, the welcome we received was amazing. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. In the evening, after we returned from dinner, we sat around the fire with the family and had a few drinks whilst we talked about the history of the house and estate. Then to top off an great stay, the breakfast on the morning we left was excellent. I cannot recommend Thrumster House enough, hence the 5 Star Rating. Do not miss out.......
My Wife and I stayed overnight - one night only - in mid-October, on our way back home to Orkney. We were warmly welcomed as we pulled up outside. The House is beautiful and we were given a brief history of the building, which was very interesting. Our room was perfect and private with it's own en-suite, TV, Tea-making facilities and seating. The bed was very comfy and we both slept like logs. Breakfast was first class, too. I just wish we had longer to enjoy the surroundings. We just loved the dogs, who were also very friendly. Thank you. RGM
