When you have to spend over fifteen minutes trying to find someone to check you in at reception and actually have to walk through back of house you know something's amiss. Ten minutes to be even greeted at breakfast! Totally unacceptable. Fantastic location and architecturally exciting BUT they need the service to make this a place to recommend. On the... More

I didn't know what to expect from the hotel, as i'd never stayed in such type of building. What I found was is a fantastic hotel. It is atmospheric, and steeped in history. The perfect place to impress your partner. I loved the dinner especially, and the breakfast. It has a snooker table room. It's a hotel I will never... More

This is an exceptional building in a stunning location, provided the weather is favourable. It is clearly geared to the conference and wedding market and most overnight guests are passing through. The interior lay-out is largely unchanged since it is was a private home and retains much of the eccentric charm from this period, late 19th and early 20th century.... More

My wife and I stayed at the AT for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our room was at the top of the tower overlooking the sea with stunning views and furnished in period style with a beautiful bathroom incorporating a walk in shower and bath. The location is stunning, with Wick close by, John O'GROATS around ten miles... More

Just a few miles north of Wick you drive down a very long lane bordered in cleanly cut grass and a hedge. You come to a circular drive with the castle on the far side. We were met at the door, registered and given a thorough tour of all the public spaces and shown our luxurious executive suite. We were... More

We arrived in thick fog and so didn't see the stunning location and setting until the next morning. We were shown to our room on the second floor named Lady D's by a pleasant young man who pointed out the public areas on the way. Our room while large and charmingly furnished was let down by a lack of attention... More

We have just finished the North Coast 500 and booked our last night to stay in the tree house at the Ackergill Tower hotel. This is the most incredible place to stay, we were met by Marcell, who even though he was in the middle of orchestrating a wedding took the time to introduce himself to my wife and I... More

We stopped here for one night on our trip. The hotel was stunning. We stayed in the Red Rum room away from the main building but it was charming with an adjoining wet room. There is no bar but you sit in any of the four lounges and the staff will see to your requirements. The food at dinner was... More

It's really a magic place. The castle is in a beautiful park and looks directly on the sea. The inside is very cured according with the style you expect in a castle. The room was very large and comfortable with a king size bed. We were lucky because it was on the last floor (5th), and you have to be... More

Ackergill Tower is a fabulous place to stay and I can't speak highly enough of the staff. A special mention for the manager Marcell who excels at the position he holds and is one of the nicest people you will meet. We stayed in Hempriggs which has a stunning view of Sinclair Bay. Would not hesitate to return.
