My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. The castle itself dates back to the 16th century and it simply oozes history. Perched right on the edge of the North sea, it stands defiantly looking out to a seascape as if to say 'I'm not going anywhere'. Our room was spacious and clean, the bed was firm and the... More

One of my best hotel nights ever! Arrived to this fantastic Tower a dark, windy and rainy evening in November. What an amazing building!! The staff at this place are outstanding the best I've ever met during all my stays at different hotels. Two lovely young ladies that supplied with excellent service in the dining room and tasteful food from... More

Whilst traveling through Scotland, a friend and I booked a night spontaneously in Wick. We were DELIGHTED to see that Ackergill was indeed a castle on the sea. The interior and grounds are delightful, and the staff saw to our every need.

Stayed here for my birthday. What a wonderful gift, right? Staff was so nice and very accommodating. Everything inside the castle was incredible. There are many rooms open to guests to lounge, play billiards, read watch TV/Movies or just chat. We stayed in a room that faced the water and was very beautiful. English breakfast was plentiful.

What an amazing place to stay. Warm friendly staff that want you to know the history of the place which really enhanced the stay. Many different lounges you are free to explore. You can even go up the tower and ramble along the ramparts to enjoy the view. We opted to have the evening meal there which was fantastic. Thoroughly... More

We stay in the NE of Scotland and last minute decided to go away for the evening. My partner chose Ackergill Tower as he happened to come across the property before. We set of and arrived a little later than expected around 10pm. Although we do not require to be waited on hand and foot, you are left to your... More

Driving up to Ackergill we knew we were in for a splendid night. Our room called Totties after a family dog from the early 1900s was delightfully decorated in vintage grey and yellow with a luxurious bathroom in vintage style. Our dinner in the baronial hall dining room was as good as the surroundings. A delicate hot smoked salmon starter,... More

Gorgeous grounds and castle to explore, and very friendly staff. Every room is beautiful, and it feels like a dream to be able to stay in such a historic place. The food is amazing, and the common rooms, drawing room, great hall are amazing and comfortable. The experience was truly incredible, highly recommend!

A wonderful stay in a lovely castle. Warm welcome on arrival. The Manager and all the staff were extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the Castle and provided excellent service throughout our stay. Our room on the fourth floor of the tower was beautifully decorated, spacious and comfortable with great views. Access to the fourth floor was via a steep narrow... More
