We stayed here on the Inverness to Wick leg of the NC500. The hotel photos didn’t quite portray it as we were expecting. It is situated opposite Poundland an a municipal car park and if you are as old as me you could be forgiven for thinking you’d arrived at The Crossroads motel featured in the 60s TV show. The interior offered a better perspective. The reception staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room was nothing to write home about but it had the necessary amenities including a bath and the bed was comfy. We ate in the hotel and the fish and chips was tasty. Wick doesn’t have a lot to offer and if I did the NC500 again I would find a better place to overnight.

Room was average at best. Really tired and dated hotel. Really in need of a makeover. Everything was clean though. Heard neighbours through thin walls the whole time including every time they flushed the toilet. So overpriced for such an average/basic tired old hotel. Stayed in much nicer hotels for less. Breakfast was actually ok. And they were really good for gluten free.

We visited the Norseman Hotel twice while on holiday near Wick. The first time we had coffee, which was served with a delicious complementary homemade shortbread, and then we went back on a different day for a very nice lunch. On both occasions the service was friendly and efficient, and the food tasty and good value for money. There is a large free car park outside and a pleasant footpath beside the Wick River. The building does not look much from the outside, but as a place for coffee or lunch I would highly recommend it.

I stayed at Norseman a while ago, and will be staying again. The firendly, helpful service has not changed, and the VFM can't be beaten. The hospitality and unique area is well worth heading north from Inverness.
