A nice place...even a complimentary "dram" was waiting in our room! Large room with modern bath...all amenities you'd expect. Dinner was nice although lengthy and the chef even made our sticky toffee pudding for dessert even though it wasn't on the menu! The staff were friendly and accommodating. I would recommend it...especially since there is an elevator...seems rare in many...

Stayed here for two nights on a trip to see the North of Scotland. Bedroom was comfortable and well furnished. I had only intended to have dinner there on the first night but the food was so good that I dined there on my second evening too. Well presented, delicious and served by friendly and attentive staff.

Only called in for a quick drink. Only 2 other people in, so not much of an atmosphere. Nice building, and friendly enough staff. Probably not geared up for passing drinkers, more for eating and overnight stays

Great hotel. Warm welcome, good breakfasts and desserts to die for. Check it out and see for yourself. As a last minute booking whilst in Wick with friends, we happened upon Mackays. Their host was gracious in finding us rooms and giving recommendations on them menu. They deserve their reputation.

We only stayed for one night on our way to catch the ferry to Orkney but were made to feel very welcome. The room was comfortable with everything we needed & we slept well. We had a delicious breakfast before setting off for Gill's Bay. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Wick. If you stay here,...

The town of Wick is sadly long past its set-by date but Mackays is mosts certainly not. Right from the comfy sofas in reception and the friendly welcome we knew this was going to be a good stay. Our room was HUGE (the bed was absolutely massive!) with a proper bathroom (including a spa bath) and plenty of space to...

An excellent place to stay in Wick. Well maintained and pleasantly decorated, the rooms and food were well worth the money. Although there is no car park we had no difficulty parking just outside the main entrance and its location, close to the town centre as a boon. Staff were attentive and helpful and I can thoroughly recommend this hotel...

There is nothing at John o Groats so stay nearby at Wick. Mackays is family run for over 30 years and once inside you will be surprised at the decor and the warm welcome from professional staff and a very good chef indeed.
