Bill and Jean very friendly although they were without a cook when we stayed, but they still provided first class food, especially the lamb shank. Cute rooms with modern bathrooms and just a 10 second walk to the restaurant. Bar prices amazingly low. Great stop for NC500
Stayed here on the car park in a Motorhome by chance! We were doing the NC500 and couldn’t find anywhere else so by chance we looked on the search for sites app where they recommended here! So glad we did! The people were so accommodating! Lovely spot even in the mist! The little dog was gorgeous too!
We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rooms. The room had everything we expected and needed. The hotel is on a quiet road and the rooms are in the courtyard at the back of the hotel. The evening meal, although a limited menu was very nice and we both enjoyed the home cooked food. The only niggle was being asked to book a time for breakfast. We are on holiday and do not want to have to set an alarm so we don't miss our time slot! The breakfast again was lovely cooked to order food
Castle Arms Hotel is a great place to stay on the north coast of Scotland. We booked a disabled room, it was perfect. Going through the back garden there was a slope for wheelchair access. The room had plenty of space and a wet room with a stool in the shower. The people were very friendly and helpful.
This is my original review, which I feel compelled to downgrade: Our room was basic but entirely adequate, except for the lack of WiFi access. We understand they tried to get WiFi extended to their guest rooms but couldn't because of technical problems. But I couldn't get access to the lounge (where the WiFi reaches) until 7:00 a.m., which left me to twiddle my thumbs for an hour after waking early. When I did get into the lounge, I felt as though I was intruding by drinking a glass of orange juice and asking for coffee. Apparently, these amenities are on offer only as part of the breakfast that was included in the room price. Honestly, what difference does it make? I negected to mention in this review that we had a dirty towel and an unwashed mug when we checked in. The owner's response to my original review rather proves my point. I know of no hotel anywhere that limits access to its common areas to specific times or that lays out a buffet table that it doesn't want guests to freely use. I had *one* small glass of orange juice before breakfast and *one* during. I asked if coffee were available in the hope that there was a machine somewhere, and I made clear to the person who waited on me that I didn't wish them to go to any trouble to get me a cup. I didn't drink any coffee an hour later when my wife and I had our custom-cooked breakfast.…
