We made this our base for a day trip to Orkney and it was perfect. We enjoyed the large room and bath, as well as the friendly staff and good hot breakfasts. Although they say hot food is prepared starting at 7:30, they were kind enough to make us hot breakfasts earlier so we could catch the ferry.

The outside from the road does not look promising but the welcome inside is great. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The fish for an evening meal was lovely and the staff were very eager to please. The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great and the view across the garden and bay was beautiful. There is... More

The staff were very friendly and the views from the hotel were amazing. When we arrived we were shown to our room - we had booked a small double. The room was clean and basic but we weren't looking for anything fancy as long as it was clean which it was. However the bed was probably the worst bed I've... More

We stayed here while doing the North Coast 500 - the hotel was great and totally what we needed. They provided lovely sea kelp hand wash! We ate dinner at the hotel as well which was lovely. Good breakfast too!

Although a bit quirky , this was a great place to stay while traveling the coast. Location is perfect, with views of the ocean from room and restaurant . Room adequate, bed comfortable. Restaurant pretty good for dinner although breakfast was a disappointment compared to other places we have visited here in Scotland. Improvements to room would include fixing the... More

All my party were staying at this hotel. 12 of us. The hotel is well presented. We like the locals public bar. The rooms were spacious, well equipped with a nautical theme. I knew my wife would have enjoyed a stay here..... The food was well prepared and a good selection. The service was patchy. The bar in the restaurant... More

We were delighted with the evening meal which hit all the right spots and was a pleasure. Well done. A good breakfast but we were not sure about the square sausages! Our bedroom was generous and comfortable. Everything is a bit old fashioned but that is no real problem: one of us however spent the meal reorganising and redesigning the... More

stayed here during our trip on the North Coast 500, only for one night. the dinner was lovely and arrived surprisingly quick despite us being a party of 12. the service was quick, the staff could have been friendlier but were very efficient. the room was lovely and i slept incredibly well, would definitely stay again.

Very friendly hosts and a cosy pub in a fascinating landscape easily accessible from Strathy Point to Dunnet Head. We visited the hotel to see "The Devil's Larder" performed by the Grid Iron Theatre Company with tableaus in different rooms/spaces in the hotel. The audience, the actors, the hosts and the locals all met in the pub after the performance.

We stayed here one night. A great location midway between John O'Groats and Durness. The hotel looks a bit anonymous from the outside and we managed to miss it as we first passed it. We were given a friendly welcome from the owner and shown to our large modern double room. The bathroom was an unusual "L" shape with bath... More
