My family and I wanted to experience the northeast corner of mainland Scotland, and we chose Liz and Mick's place, because the house looked absolutely beautiful, and the location looked unbeatable. Our actual stay exceeded our expectations. The house itself is perfect, and the two rooms were wonderfully spacious and appointed. My wife and I stayed in Hoy, with a... More

Our stay in this B&B was wonderful. We had 3 nights and could get a good overview about this area using the B&B as starting point. The owners are very friendly, we had nice chats in the morning. Breakfast was traditional, but fresh and well-prepared. The rooms are well-cleaned, with nice interiour and arranged with love. Bathroom very good! Location... More

We stayed here for 2 nights on our way to Orkney and agree with all the other reviewers – this is a perfect and very special B&B. The stunning eco home that Mick and Liz have built is spectacular, filled with light and with beautiful furniture, textiles, pottery and art, and the photos on their website don’t begin to do... From the bedroom window we were able to view Dunnet Head in the distance. Of course Michael and Liz have the end wall of their house completely glazed with wonderful views across the Pentland Firth. At breakfast you are able to share these views. Our room was spotless and well appointed. The shower recess was atypically large. A wonderful B&B... More

We spent 2 nights here and were very impressed. Beautiful, clean, and modern accommodation. Helpful, knowledgeable hosts. All eat together at breakfast. Good location. We will stay here again when next in area.

Liz and Michael are absolutely charming and very hospitable people. They let 2 rooms which are situated at the front of the house, allowing guests to come and go as they please without disturbing anyone else or being disturbed. We took both rooms, my wife and me in one, the children in the other. Both rooms were immaculate, well furnished... More

In summer with its amazing long night, you can just keep on looking at the view. Best view from a B&B ever. Quiet location. We had dinner at a nearby hotel which had a very good varied menu. We used it as a last stop on our Land's End to John O'Groats bike ride. Seeing the advertisement on their website... More

Burifa is a special kind of b&b. From it's modern architecture to amazing shower (seriously), it is one of the finest b&b's we have stayed in. The hosts are lovely and seem to genuinely like running 'Burifa' (unlike some proprietors we have met recently). Breakfast is served around the one table which we enjoy as we are the sociable sort.... More

The room was beautiful and spotlessly clean. Fresh milk for the hospitality tray and a proper assortment of biscuits were really appreciated. A bath sheet opposed to towel would have been the icing on the cake for a larger lady like myself. Liz and Michael were fabulous hosts and provide a wonderful leisurely breakfast experience, with breakfast cooked to order... More

I spent one night here before travelling to Orkney. It is absolutely beautiful inside and out. Definately underpriced. The bedroom was lovely, very clean, lovely views. The hosts Liz and Michael were very friendly and approachable. If you have only one night to spend in Thurso or looking for somewhere to stop before or after Orkney then this is a... More
