We were looking forward to visiting here after reading the previous poor reviews. However, this turned out be exceptional value and a good night's stay which was cheaper than the hostels and bunkhouses we had stayed in. £30 with full breakfast was great off season value. Staff were fine. Bed a little lumpy, some dust behind the bed but truly... More

very disappointed. Room decor very poor, dust in lots of locations (including main lampshade). Cobwebs in the room. Shower base -heavily soiled with black/dark looking mould. TV in room far too small for the room. Cooked breakfast very poor (sausages burnt black and tasted of fish!) Many rooms are above the bar - could hear a lot of noise (and... More

Needed a place to stop over on my way to a funeral, so booked this place. Barman was very nice and the place looks great from outside and in the bar / restaurant. But then you go to your room, the place needs help a lot of help. The room was cold with no heating on it smelt damp and... More

Our room was basic, the decor was a bit rushed and bathroom could of done with a bit of a clean. The bed was comfy and clean and shower was warm. We... More

Was looking forward to our stay. Looks great from outside and person in the bar was very friendly. Once in the room it is very worn and could do with a lick of paint. And it was very dusty. The bathroom needed a deep clean and even a lick of paint. The bed I could feel every spring and did... More

Thirty of us booked lunch for 2pm on Saturday 8th October 2016. When we arrived at 1.45pm we were told they'd only expected us for drinks, but took our orders anyway. Six meals were provided at 2.40pm. The rest arrived about 3'10pm. The staff were rude. I ordered fish and chips with mushy peas and tartar sauce. There was no... More

This review is for the restaurant only. The bar and waiting staff were really friendly and helpful. We ordered food from both the menu and the specials board, and it was served hot and tasty, albeit it was a bit of a long wait - in fact it meant more time for another round of draught beers. I would eat... More

We arrived at the property at 3:30 pm and there was no one there and two other couples waiting. We went and ate next door (lovely) and then returned at approx 5:30. We had to pay first (mistake) and then we were given the keys. We went to the rooms and they were very poorly decorated with terrible bathrooms. Filthy... More

The outside of MacKenzie’s Highland Inn looks smart, eye catching and inviting. Unfortunately, we’d booked three nights here. We walked in, expecting good things having seen the outside, and were greeted with a demand for the cost of the stay upfront, which amounted to £200. There was no receipt provided. There was no offer to show us the rooms first,... More
