We stayed in this hotel in July and it was the worst experience I ever had traveling. The rooms were so hot you could hardly breathe in them and you were only given one fan. When I asked for more fans they refused me. The tub spout was also broken as well as the drain stopper. The rooms are very outdated and filthy. We left the hotel at 10PM our first day there and booked a room at another location down the street.

We stayed here as part of a tour. The good: the room layout was the best I’ve seen on this side of the world. Massive room including a sitting area, and a bathroom with a normal door instead of one that leaves zero to the imagination. The location is great and the hotel has a lot of history. It was clean, which is always the most important. The bad: just a lot of little things. The shower has a tub, and it is incredibly high to step in and out of the shower. I’m young and I almost died getting out of the shower... I can’t imagine it’s safe for anyone with any type of mobility difficulty. They wouldn’t let us check in to our room until 2:55 which was annoying. Then our room had no hand towels. The windows are hard to open/close and Saturday night was insanely loud outside (not the hotels fault obviously). All in all, not a bad hotel to stay in. All the important things were good. But I’d say this is a 3.5 star hotel.

We were moved to this hotel when our original hotel flooded. The room was dated and the window wouldn’t open. It is a historic building but some updates would go a long way. The location is great and of course it is close to the station.

We got a deluxe family room, which was tiny, located near the end of an immensely long, dark hallway near a flickering light. The room was equipped with a sagging, unsupported, misshapen pull out sofa as an additional bed. There weren’t enough towels or bathrobes provided and we had to request more. The amenities were lacking—no bottled water in the room, one partially used roll of toilet paper (which ran out before we checked out). The carpet was outdated and had an enormous wrinkle in it, which was enough to be a trip hazard. The bathroom walls had blackish mold, as did the shower grout. The bathroom floor was clearly dirty. The bathroom had a frosted glass door that wouldn’t latch: not quite the privacy you want for a family vacation. Light fixtures were dusty and shades were misshapen and partially hanging off the wall. One bulb was burned out. No AC, but keeping the windows open wasn’t an option due to the street noise. The dusty drapes didn’t close enough to provide room darkening. The room phone wouldn’t work—we couldn’t get anyone from housekeeping to answer—so had to drag our bags of laundry to the concierge for assistance. The concierge was nice and accommodating. Parking was in a public garage 2-3 blocks from the hotel.

This is a delightful old building that has been tastefully renovated. The rooms are delightful and the location fantastic. The staff are obviously proud of the hotel and rightly so. Function rooms are also good and all the facilities are of good quality. Romancing the days of steam trains but with all mod cons. Nice place!
