Second consecutive day out to lunch and the restaurant in the City Hotel in Dunfermline certainly didn't disappoint. Great portions and deliciously cooked burger and beef lasagne meals with a glass of wine, pint of Belhaven Best and coffee to finish for around £25 is fantastic value. Staff were attentive and pleasant with meals served in just over 10 minutes....

So, staff in restaurant were great, night male reception staff, hmm, ok. Evening meal was nice except haddock must have swam up the oil river, everything else good. The stairs up to room had been repaired with duct tape, so okay I wasn't sleeping on the stairs, but not filling me with confidence. Room 22, single room. Very clean and...

First room we were given had such a lumpy, uncomfortable bed we could not stay and requested we be moved to another room. The receptionist gave us another room without question, which was larger and far more comfortable. Our sister, in another room, said her bed was adequate. Suggest, some of the mattresses need replacing. Décor a little tired, but...

Me and my partner have breakfast here quite alot, very nice. We can be quite fussy, poached eggs, brown toast, crispy bacon etc and it's always perfect. Not overly keen on the rest of the menu though.
