We were in Edinburgh for our daughters wedding at Dynamic Earth and it was a good base from which to operate. The location on Princes Street is first class but as with all hotels in this street there is no carpark. Hotel guests get a good discount from the NCP in Castle Terrace but it is a long walk across...

This place caught me off guard. The room (I had a single bed so wasn't expecting much) is very bare bones but it had good water pressure, a good size TV and decent bedding. However, the major pros are: it's an actual stop on the speedy bus from the airport (so I was literally let off at my door), the...

Great location on Princes Street overlooking Princes Street Gardens. The bus I took from Glasgow stopped right outside. The room was ready before the check in time which meant I could dump my stuff and start sightseeing. There were certain house rules. You have to leave your key with reception before leaving as it is an actual key so could...

I was going over holiday pictures and realized that I hadn't reviewed this hotel we stayed in last September in Edinburgh. It was so lovely, such a convenient location and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room looked directly on Edinburgh Castle as did the quaint little bar/breakfast room. We had twin beds, they were very comfy and...

This is centrally located on Princes Street within walking distance with luggage of the train station. It is also walking distance of many major attractions and tour departure points. Breakfast included was awesome and our waiter in the morning was a jolly and helpful chap. Front desk concierge was helpful with directions and taxi order.

Conveniently located a 5-minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley train station, a friendly and efficient welcome from the woman on reception (which is staffed 24-7.) The room is a good size, even if it were to have two guests in it, the bed is very comfortable and I got a solid night's sleep in it. The bathroom is a decent size...

I happened on this hotel quite by accident, looking for somewhere to stay near the Playhouse theatre. I had tickets for Lord of the Dance and had decided to travel up by train and stay overnight. The hotel was near the station and ideal for shopping and was a short walk from the theatre. The room was spacious and comfortable...

On arrival we where forced to move rooms due to a small problem with the plumbing This was done with a minimum of fuss however we felt that our new room was badly in need of a little T L C Having said this as with the rest of the hotel both of the rooms where spotlessly clean The staff...

I've stayed here before since I am a member and the location is brilliant. BUT this place could and should be wonderful and yet it's dull, miserable lighting, unthought through design, no art, appalling, cheap light fittings, shoddy joinery and just no management grip. The food is excellent and underpriced while the wine and other drinks overpriced. The staff are...

I was given a smallish room but did not question because I thought that is what I had paid for. The bed was big and nice. The TV was ok but could have given more choices. The shower was great, staff very helpful, breakfast was nice so was the dinner. Yes, I would go back!

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighborhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
