I arrived about 8 30 in the morning of Fr. 26.Sep for 4 nights and was given the key to my room. On my way way up the stair, I was asked if i would like any breakfast, as it was no problem. What a great impression! I just asked for a couple slices of toast and some tea.The place... More

I have never stayed in a B&B before, I have always dormed in hotels. Due to the Ryder cup, we found ourselves being offered a room in the annex at the back of the main building, which we took, as there were no other rooms going in Edinburgh at the time. This in fact turned out to be perfect. We... More

The objects including the TV in this cluttered room were covered in a layer of dust and grime! Surely the most important things about running a B&B is to ensure that it is clean. Other than that the place was fine for the price. Breakfast was quite good. Do not ever plan to stay here again as there are much... More

I had only a one night stay at the Craigelachie as I was in town for a job interview. I was made to feel most welcome and the surroundings are very comfortable. Provisions were made for me to bring in a take away for tea and a plate was readily provided. The hotel room was comfortable with a lovely bed... More

Georg Oag is a prince among men. I have been staying here or at another B&B owned by good friends of George's every time I visit Edinburgh -- for the last 12 years or so (maybe 6 visits). People who insist on staying right on Prince's street are wasting their money. this street is BEAUTIFUL...I love walking down it to... More

I'll start with the only negative thing you could say about this B&B - the fact that my room was very small and had no window, only a skylight. But I was warned about that - it was, after all, the most 'budget' room in the house. However, it still had everything you could need, and was beautifully decorated. The... More

Everytime we come to Edinburgh we stay here. It is across from Murrayfield, only a short bus journey to the city, very quiet and comfortable. The breakfast is incredible and the owner is very friendly and helpful and the rooms are comfortable. There are only 4/5 guest rooms and they are located on the second floor. We have stayed here... we stayed from 23rd Feb 2013 to 25th Feb for the 6 nations Ireland v Scotland game, this hotel is perfectly situated for Murrayfield stadium, its not to close that you get drunken people walking past, although the stadium is only 10 mins walk away. it is perfect if you fancy a 20-30 min walk right into the centre of... We have often stayed at the Craigelachie Hotel, especially during the Festival. It is on a quiet, broad, tree-lined avenue near the Murrayfield Stadium, with shops and bus-stops just 100 metres away, including a stop on the very regular and fast airport shuttle. The New Town and Old Town are fairly close, even with the current construction, on busses that... More

I stayed at Craiglachie whilst visiting a local company at the end of June. Room 2a was fine & the breakfast was excellent (especially the fruit salad). All in all, good value especially for such a convenient location.

“The annex is great for seclusion and a little garden.”

“Single rooms are always hard to find in the UK, since they do not charge by the room, but per person...so that means that a single traveler gets a double at half price. George does have 1 single room. It's very tiny. But I am out all day anyway...and the location and his breakfasts and his hospitality make it fine!”
