#92 of 415 B&Bs / Inns in Edinburgh
Pillars house was originally built and owned by Crawford which were offices and a spirit store in the late 18th century. Most of the building still has a lot of its character left as you can see as you walk in through the main entrance. The courtyard where our free parking is situated was traditionally used as the delivery entrance where the horse and carts brought the whiskey from the highlands to be blended.

We stayed for two days with Edna at Pillars House and it was a home from home. Edna is an amazing host, a delightful lady. The rooms were comfortable and had everything we needed. Great location for exploring the city and eating out. The breakfast was wonderful, for the two days we were so well fed we didn't bother with lunch. We are definately returning to enjoy Edna's wonderful hospitality. Nick and Jane.

Edna is wonderful as is her staff. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The B&B is located on the on the #7 or 16 bus line which will let you off on constitution just a half block from the property (Laurie street, look for the pillars). the property is quiet, the breakfast fantastic and allowed us to visit Leath and enjoy the local pubs. Compared to the cost of the downtown hotels, and the homey atmosphere here, this B&B makes a lot of sense.

Had a great time at Pillars House. It's well located on a bus line, and there's plenty of shopping at the nearby Foot of the (Leith) Walk area, including a large Tesco. We were driving and appreciated the private parking area. Our room was immaculate, if small. The beds were perhaps the most comfy we found in the U.K. Edna is a wonderful hostess and cooks a made-to-order family style breakfast (guests choose a seating time at check-in), which helps get guests talking to each other. And if they don't start she herself can exchange travel stories. Definitely like visiting a favorite aunt. She says when she shops for breakfast food she's thinking of what the guests would like, that's why it was the only place in Europe we stayed that had crunchy peanut butter!

The experience there was amazing, I stayed in a suite with 3 other classmates, our suite had 3 twin beds a bunk bed, and a really comfortable sofa. The bathroom was big (and super clean!!!) The breakfast was delicious, it was my first time trying a complete Scottish breakfast, but it was amazing. Miss Edna has such a lovely personality. The location of the B&B is good if you want to walk to the pier it’s like a 10 minute walk if your taking pictures). 10 out of 10 experience.
