When we arrived at The Victorian Town House, Ailey, the owner was waiting for us, outside! Now we didn't expect that and it was because she was phoned that we were on our way, but how nice was that! The rooms are in the basement...More

My partner and I stayed for a few days in September 2017 at the Victorian Town House. Perfect location, homely, warm, welcoming, delicious breakfast, gracious host, spacious, spotlessly clean, beautiful decor. What more can I say, apart from "we absolutely loved our short stay in...More

The Victorian Town House is a quiet bed and breakfast away from Edinburgh's city center. There are three rooms available, and breakfast is included. The Caledonian Room in which I stayed is very spacious and well appointed, with an enormous bathroom. The bed is quite...More

We stayed for the weekend the end of August. It was wonderful. It is a walk from the city center and all of the touristy things but we enjoyed that. The neighborhood is lovely and it is close enough to everything not be a nuisance....More

Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in
industrial Britain had their most desirable
neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes.
Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest
citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind
grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel
crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and
sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along
