Our quiet tranquil City Center Georgian townhouse hotel is set right in the heart of Scotland's capital. We provide hospitality in elegant and comfortable surroundings to guests visiting Edinburgh on business and to those wishing to enjoy a short sightseeing break. We are within easy walking distance of Edinburgh's world-famous Castle, Palaces, Gardens, Museums, Shopping centers, and our local train tram & bus stations. There are many fine restaurants, bars & nightclubs to suit all types. We are very close to these establishments, although not that close to causing a disturbance. All our rooms are fully en-suite with FREE high-speed WiFi, and FREE private parking, Kind regards Freddie & Fiona. (In these uncertain times, I wanted to reach out to you personally about what we are doing here at Broughton Hotel to support you and your travel plans. As the situation around the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve, we are doing everything we can to ensure your travel safety and provide maximum flexibility. Your Travel Safety As it has always been, the safety and security of our guests and team members remain our highest priority. We take great pride in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene. In response to the coronavirus, we have taken additional measures developed in consultation with global and local public health authorities (including the WHO and CDC) to make our cleaning and hygiene protocols even more rigorous: Our hotel staff is receiving ongoing briefings and enhanced operating protocols. We have increased the frequency of cleaning our public areas (including lobbies, door handles, bathrooms, etc.) and have continued the use of hospital-grade disinfectants. We have increased the deployment of antibacterial hand sanitizers and all bathroom toiletries are individual. Soft furnishing items removed. We are prepared to act swiftly should we be alerted to a case of coronavirus and would contact all guests with the current update. Our stay at Broughton Hotel was a pleasant experience, Mr. Freddie was very kind. It's a small hotel, but you have everything you want. The rooms are clean, same for the bathroom. We didn't really stay in the hotel as much, having so much to visit in this fabulous city, but i totally recommend it. It is also close to the important places in Edinburgh (Calton Hill, Royal Mile, castle and Princess Gardens, mall) at a maximum of 10-15 minutes.

We loved the room, was nice and cosy and clean. Had all that we needed with the toiletries and amenities. Freddie helped us out with a car issue and was very helpful. It was very quiet and nice central location. Will definitely come back if back in Edinburgh.

We went to Edinburgh for my wife's 60th Birthday. We chose The Broughton Hotel because of it location and the reviews on Booking.com. And because it asked us if there was any special requests on the booking form. I just replied informing them it was my wife's 60th birthday, hoping we may get a nice room or something to make us feel welcome. Unfortunately it wasn't exactly what we'd hoped for, and having since read the reviews on TripAdvisor when we got back, and found some of them to be a bit harsh and unfair. I thought I'd try and answer this one as truthfully as I can. We found the Manager & Manageress very polite on arrival. Yes the parking was a bit tight, only having 4 spaces from what we could see, but we still managed to get parked. Yes the room was possibly in need of a revamp as some people have pointed out, but it was still quite clean and presentable. The heating as mentioned in other reviews, did seem to be off during the day, but definitely back on at night. The complimentary drinks and biscuits were very nice, as were the fresh towels, and bed linen. The only disappointments that we found, and I'm only speaking from our own previous experiences were. We put a notice on the door to have our room cleaned, but on late arrival after a long and arduous day celebrating my wife's 60th birthday, we returned to find that it hadn't been cleaned. Leaving us to make the bed and tidy the room ourselves, and washing the dirty cups out for a nightcap coffee before we turned in for the night. The only other thing was, If anyone informs a hotel that you are visiting them for a very special occasion, as we were. It's normally well received by the guests if they arrived to find something in the room, to make the stay feel special. But having said that, they did wish my wife a happy birthday when we arrived, which was very nice. Other than that, it was a very pleasant stay. I'm always a great believer in constructive criticism if required, rather than some of the harsh and undeserving comments other people leave. It is a nice Hotel, in a fantastic location, right on top of the City centre. The owners were very polite, and all things considering, we had a very nice stay. We would definitely come back. Hi, Mr. Dunn Thank you for this and I shall try to address your points, 1. Fiona and I (Freddie) are the actual owners of the Broughton Hotel. 2. Our car park is 35m x 11m enough for 6 vehicles when parked end to end, 3. We actually gave you a free upgrade from a double room en/shower at £96 pn to a large family room with a full bathroom for your wife's 60th, that particular room rate is normally £120 per night.4. Guests are pre-advised by email and a notice on the dressing table about the day-to-day running of our hotel at this present time, it states if guests require there room to be serviced place a sign on the door handle room service is from 10 am-12 noon when our part-time housekeeper finishes for the day, I can only assume you had left for the day after 12 noon and that was why housekeeper never got access sorry about that,5. Our central heating is on a timer for economic and environmental reasons (The hotel is nearly always empty from 10 am-4 pm so there is no reason to heat unused spaces) with our energy cost rising 200% this year alone. Just returned from a 3 night stay at The Broughton Hotel. So glad we were able to stay there on what was very busy weekend for Edinburgh. The hotel is set just off a main street so was surprisingly quiet, our room was an ample size with an amazing comfy bed (I had the best 3 nights sleep in along time) hosts were lovely and were on call if anything was needed. Its an ideal place to stay as you are in walking distance of all what central Edinburgh has to offer. Would definitely stay again on our next visit to Edinburgh

This is a lovely little hotel in the perfect location for visiting Edinburgh. It has a parking space if your driving. In the heart of the beautiful city everything is in easy walking distance with tram and train station also nearby. Accommodation is very comfortable and the ow Erskine couldn't have been more helpful or friendly.

Loved the Broughton hotel, fantastic hosts, more than happy to help out with anything we needed, we were lucky enough to be there when it was snowing so had a stunning view out of our window, the hotel itself is situated perfectly, far enough away from the centre to avoid the congestion and noise but close enough for a walk in while passing plenty of pubs and shops well worth a look in. Room was a little bit chilly at night but it’s an old building in December so it’s to be expected but the thick quilts provided were enough to keep us warm. Will definitely be back, see you next year!

Very warm and comfortable room, much appreciated on a freezing night. Highly recommended especially given the friendly welcome. Location is good to, Broughton street is 1 minute away and only 10 minutes walk from Waverley Station.
