Stayed here for 3 nights so we could explore Edinburgh and what a little gem it was. Lovely place to stay, the room was spot on, extremely clean, comfy bed and big towels, free parking too, which is a big bonus. Took about 10 minutes to walk into the centre of Edinburgh. Only met Fiona and Freddie for a few minutes due to covid restrictions which was a shame. Would highly recommend any one to stay here.

Spent one night here and couldn't calibrate my experience with the glowing reviews on here, so many from single review contributors. It's quite incredible how many people decided to post their one and only review on the Broughton Hotel. Some so intuitive that they manage to repeat parts of previous reviews verbatim. Am I suggesting they might not be completely genuine? You bet I am, and this practice completely undermines TA. The hotel is in a fantastic location. Close to everything, yet quiet. That's where the good stuff ends. What some might think are excellent anti Covid measures, I'd call paranoia. I can't comment on the hospitality element, as the only interaction I had was with the guy who stood the other side of the door frantically gesturing to pull up my mask, then to sanistise my hands before he opened it, and bid a retreat to behind another door to their living quarters. He had a shield mask on, which actually provides zero protection against the virus - merely spitting. Keys were in a bag on the table, and we had a brief muffled discussion (the place is on the market, and we're house hunting). There were two of us, in separate rooms, and they were the most tired I can ever recall. 80s decor, the shabby en suite stinking so much of bleach, I gagged. I left the fan running for a while to try and disperse it. Wall lights over the bed didn't work. Shower was pitiful and went from cold to super hot and back again. I guess it's hard to be motivated to invest when you're looking to sell but the threadbare stair carpet showed that this place hasn't seen investment for years. At just over £100, it's cheap, but no breakfast owing to covid. God knows how every cafe and restaurant is coping. Next time I will pay a little more for better rooms and to be treated like I'm not radioactive. I now await the customary rant reply from the owner :)

Great location for the city centre attractions and there is free parking included. Very unusual but very helpful Felt very safe with the COVID precautions in place. No breakfast available at hotel but it’s not a problem when you are in the city with loads of choice

Absolutely perfect for a city stay. We stayed here for 3 nights. The location was superb. Owners were welcoming upon arrival and we could check in from 12 enabling us to make the most of the day. Car was parked safely off road for the 3 days which was included. Loved how quiet it was directly outside so it was easy to sleep. Cleanliness was excellent and a big thing for me is that the shower was powerful. Would recommend and would stay here again.

Friendly couple who maintain/ own the hotel. You can check in from 10am and it has a small car park with limited spaces which is what drew us to booking here. The room was clean and had everything we needed with our ensuite bathroom. Just a 5 minute walk to the town centre with plenty of shops and eateries. We would come and stay again.
