We chose this venue simply as its location best suited one of the group. VERY quiet at lunchtime but friendly, helpful, service. Menu and bar choices were limited. We all tried the fish and chips. Sadly - the batter on the fish was soggy; the fish was cooked and the chips were OK but all smacked a great deal of...

From the moment my young family and I arrived we knew this was not the place for us. As you walk in there is a damp smell that is present through the whole hotel. I was asked to pay upfront and shown to our family room. Here we found cobwebs on the walls, bedding that looked about 20 years old,...

A friendly and family run hotel. It's a nice and cosy place to stay as bedrooms are roomy, comfortable and well equipped to feel at ease. Breakfast is great with different possibilities from cooked breakfast to traditional cereals or toasts. You have also have meals there which can be very convenient. Staff is very helpful and that makes the difference...

Stayed at this hotel for a few days, it is clean and the food is very nice and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The rooms need updating and sound proofing would be good, as you can hear everything that the people in the next rooms are saying, which makes you worry if you can be heard too. The...

I stayed in the hotel during a visit over the bank holiday weekend in August 2015. The hotel fails to mention it is also a half way house/hostel. It has long term guest and is used as a temporary accommodation for the homeless. The rooms were unclean, the breakfast was terrible, the only good thing I could say is the...

This hotel is some distance from Edinburgh City Centre but is well served by the buses and the Stops are nearby. However, be warned that at night it's important to check the landmarks on the route near to the hotel so you know at which Stop to alight. The next Stop is a long distance away. I was there this...

Passed this place whilst out for an extended walk and went in for a well deserved pint. Decided to have some food and settled on their all day breakfast. This is usually 5.50 but with my extras 2 rashers of bacon, 2 tattie scones. slab of black pudding. extra egg and 2 rolls with butter it came to 9.50.Yes it...

Very unclean, rude staff, full of homeless junkies and food was terrible. I wouldn't stay here again if I was paid! Wish I'd spent a but more money and went somewhere else where we could have had a decent sleep.

First if your visiting Gilmerton Cove this hotel is two minutes away on the same street so kill two birds with one stone saves a trip into Edinburgh's city centre for lunch. We arrived fashionably early before mid day and were welcomed in by the chief John to our choice of table. The decor is slightly dated but clean and...

Dropped by with my parents on route to hospital to visit my Gram as we were tired and hungry from the drive. Having worked in the hospitality industry for 10 years I was a bit skeptical on arrival due to the decor (wee bit outdated) + menu layout (I have a thing about bad fonts and menu "books") but DO...
