Nira Caledonia is surrounded by the cobbled streets and Georgian elegance of New Town, a short stroll from Princes Street, Nira Caledonia is a central yet peaceful Edinburgh retreat. Amid the plush pelmets, rich textures and original cornices you'll find flat-screen televisions, Nespresso coffee machines, complimentary Wi-Fi and iPod docking stations. You'll find warm, heartfelt service and a cool, quirky style. Each of our sumptuous rooms and suites is unique, with its own opulent character. Many have vast floor-to-ceiling sash windows, others open out onto a private garden and some feature a relaxing Jacuzzi. All have new ultra-comfortable beds and pillows of goose feather and down. As a protected Grade A building we don't have a lift, but our porters are always on hand and we offer 24-hour room service. The cuisine at our restaurant is natural, fresh and often organic, with ingredients farmed, caught, raised or bred in Scotland and with over 25 Scotch whiskey blends and single malts, our bar also focuses on local flavours. With a friendly touch - and a touch of theatre - we welcome independent-minded travellers who prefer to go their own way. Come our way.

Nira Caledonia was welcoming and maintained a high level of service even under the Pandemic circumstances. The restaurant was closed while a new chef was installed but there are many excellent restaurants in walking distance and we had excellent food recommendations from Sean at the hotel. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Parking was not a problem if you remember to download and use the RingGo app to pay for parking. We found it convenient and always plenty of space on the very quiet side street where the hotel is located. The location of the hotel is off the tourist track which we liked but also was close enough so that in 10 minutes you were on Princes Street and near to many of the sites in the City. The staff are friendly and all of our drinks throughout our 3 day stay were complimentary. Sean is an excellent front of house for the hotel and couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Kasia was also very helpful and couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. The rooms were clean and perfectly acceptable, particularly for a boutique hotel in a period property. We will definitely stay again on future trips to the City.

Beautiful hotel and warm welcome. Huge room gorgeously decorated but bathroom could have been bigger. Perfect location to explore Edinburgh, particularly Stockbridge and Dean Village. Very good breakfast considering the current restrictions.

On the whole, this hotel is a great hotel. The rooms are spacious, it is a charm to the building, and the location is great for those who do not want to be bang in the centre of town. The service in the hotel was great, the bar staff and wait staff very friendly. Room itself was very big to be fair, we got upgraded to one of the suites which was a nice touch by the check-in staff. The bedroom, however, is where the room starts to fall down. The bathroom when we got there was well equipped with quite an impressive looking shower system that had a rain fall top on it, with the water shoots on the actual hub too. But on looks however this is where the impressiveness ended. When turning on the shower you are met with a very light flow of water, to which we complained about to the hotel staff. This was non-fixable due to it being the standard pressure throughout the building. And thus, this is what leaves me to give this hotel a bad rating on value and the rooms themselves. At quite a high price per night for a room, you would expect that the most basic of things, a powerful, or even suitable shower, would be provided. It is a very, very, basic failing of the hotel to allow customers to have that experience.

The hotel is lovely, modern, clean and the staff is really friendly and helpful. We were really lucky and were given a room upgrade for the weekend. The room was spacious, clean and just lovely. I slept all night with no disturbances and got a full night of sleep, which rarely happens, at home or on holiday! I felt truly comfortable and relaxed which doesn't really happen when you go away. Definitely going back again!
