Had a very pleasant two night stay here. Very welcoming staff, comfortable beds and good food. Nicely situated, easy walk to the Ocean Terminal and bus (no11) for Princes Street at the corner. Ate in the hotel both nights and very much enjoyed what we had, pup grub fare but nonetheless good quality ingredients well cooked and presented. Breakfast was also...

We were bought this as a gift for our 25th wedding anniversary by our sin and daughter in-law, and had no idea what staying this side of Edinburgh would be like. So okay we booked and stayed when the hotel was quiet and we were the only guests, unknown to us at e time. This is not a central location...

My partner & I had booked VPH on a 2-night living social deal. I'm unsure how our experience was so polar opposite to all the other reviews on here, and i'm not a picky traveller. When we arrived just after three we were told our room was ready and taken straight to it. The room seemed okay. The man from...

Just returned from a two night stay at this hotel. The hotel is well situated with only a short bus journey to the city centre, wouldn't be a bad walk- weather permitting. Staff GREAT, very personable, helpful and friendly- nothing an effort. Room was very spacious, very clean and tidy and very warm. Food very good, not exceptional, bit of...

We stayed at the hotel last week, allocated room 1 on 1st floor, at the back; my wife and I were on a ‘living social 2 night deal’. The room was clean, well decorated and was warm, no bath but a fairly decent size shower. On arrival we received a warm welcome and were informed that as the bar area...

When I made a serious complaint in the morning, just greeted with total rudeness and aggression so our stay was an unpleasant experience. Also very noisy on one side (main road), far from centre, no atmosphere and some of the food awful.

This is a curate's egg. On the plus side, staff were friendly, helpful and obliging. Room (no 7) was large and had obviously been recently redecorated; the food was well cooked and presented and wine was well chosen and priced. What would make it excellent? Four niggling specifics that would have really improved our enjoyment (a) servicing of the room...
