I booked for one night only but it was well worth it for the price. Though I arrived 8am and was told my room was not ready til 2pm I was a little distraught but I was able to leave my luggage with them and venture out. The staff is very friendly and can help call to book tours for... More

A good location on bus routes. The staff were helpful with maps, directions etc. I stayed for two nights and had a good breakfast both mornings. I got what I paid for. It was a good base for me to explore Edinburgh during the festival. I would stay there again.

We stayed in a room for 5 on the first floor. One of the beds was broken and squeaked every time my son turned in bed. Bathroom was smelly and very small, added later into the room. The general look of the hotel was not good. Beds and the room were clean(ish) but very worn and old. The breakfast was... More

We went there as we were looking for an accomodation in Edinburgh city with breakfast and parking close to the old town. We didn't expect something amazing for the price we paid. However, we've been informed (after booking) that parking was not available anymore. (There are only 2 spots and way more rooms!!!) The alternative was a nearby private parking... More

We booked a 3 night break and now wished we had stayed somewhere else. The whole accommodation is very tired and grubby looking. We had to pay our money before we had even been shown to our room... (.£350 for three nights in August)! Our room (number 1) was right next door to the kitchen and was the smallest double... More

This is more of a hostel setting. Beware of leaving your window open, midges are the scourge of the north, nasty mosquito like bugs. The hot waterdidn't last long either. Added bonus there was a rooster that crowed every 30 minutes after sunrise. So that sucked!

Good location for walking into edinburgh. Comfortable bed but room looked tired and mildew in bathroom. Ok breakfast a bit greasy for our liking, but lovely scrambled egg on toast for second morning. Strange parking arrangements as we parked off road a few doors down. Was quite small car space with a bit of a drop onto drive (not so... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
