This was a suprinsingly good place to stay in Edinburgh. The rooms are reasonable, the breakfast is dencent, the position is not far away from the city center, all in all a good choice. We did not know initially about this network but actually found it very convenient throught the United Kingdom.

Booked this for a concert (way in advance) and was delighted we had. We booked it for the location though were worried about the street noise being so close to busy Tollcross, no need to have worried. It was a great location and the room (517) was great. We ate out at short notice elsewhere and in hindsight should have... More

I stayed one night whilst attending a conference. The hotel is fairly centrally located and within a walking distance of the Edinburg international conference centre. The room I stayed in was on the top floor (5th floor). The room was clean, modern and surprisingly well appointed for this budget range. It was very well soundproofed and I could not hear... More

We chose this hotel primarily due to its location and room rate at the time. We wanted twin room as we were 2 female relatives travelling together. I was surprised to be told that the only twin rooms the hotel provided had a double bed and a roll-out bed - not exactly ideal for 2 adults. The roll-out bed is... More

Cracking stay. Room good size. Near enough to the Castle for which we attended Runrig. Not so keen on driving in the city itself. Took a public service but to Kinnaird shopping centre. Lost track of which stop to get off at but having 4G with Google maps certainly hepled as did the bus drivers . 6 outa 5. Slainte

This was my second premier inn experience, the first in London was a big success so I was disappointed with this particular hotel. On arrival we asked to move rooms as we had been allocated a room directly opposite the elevator a pet hate of mine this was not possible on the first night and after that the request was... More

Let's face it, to enjoy Edinburgh you're going to need to enjoy walking, but a good home base can make the amount of walking reasonable. We stayed here for a long weekend and found the location to be just fine. The hotel is classic Premier Inn: not at all fancy nor priced like it, but very serviceable. The staff were... More

Stayed here for 2 nights for a business trip. I asked for a nice quiet room and thats what I got. Room was well appointed, clean and modern. The breakfast was the best I have ever had at a premier inn and was served on time! Staff were very helpful and pleasant, overall a great stay and would stay here... More

We walked here from Waverley Street station and it feels like you are going further and further out of Edinburgh. I was starting to think the central location description was a joke. It's not on the best street when you get there but you are about 5 minutes walk from Grassmarket which is lovely and 10 from The Royal Mile.... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
