We visited Edinburgh for the university open day and stayed here the night before our daughters 18th. When they found it was her birthday she was presented with a card and chocolates which absolutely made our stay perfect! Aidan was the guy who made it happen, but the whole team were great. Can never fault a Premier Inn, but this... More

Premier have got a great brand going and all their hotels are clean and great value for money, what sets this one apart is the staff. Very friendly and keen to see if you are enjoying your stay in Edinburgh, have great local knowledge about what restaurants to go to or ideas of what to go and see. Credit to... More

This Premier Inn tends to be cheaper because it's seen as out of the city, but it's really not. It's a five minute walk to the university. It's a 9 minute walk to the Royal Mile. It's slightly further to Princes Street (around 16 minutes) and about 20-22 minutes to New Town. You can get to Morningside, via the Meadows... More

A fantastic hotel! Everything you need at the heart of the city ( old town). Excellent staff who really go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and who really pay attention to every detail. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the city. Our room was great! Fantastic view of Carlton Hill, and even though we are next to the... More

Premier Inn is a chain in Scotland (all UK?) and it is pitched at middle priced travelers. We stayed seven nights while apartment hunting. Room and bath clean. Room slightly larger than expected. Quiet. Needed assistance scanning documents and staff very helpful and quick to do the scanning and emailing so we could forward to landlord. Staff always pleasant. Happily... More

We stayed here recently for two nights as our daughter was moving into university accommodation around the corner. Staff were excellent and liked the air conditioning unit in the room. Restaurant was good with friendly service. Despite paying for "ultimate wi-fi" this was quite simply crap with 5 meg download and constant disconnections for £5 a day - needs to... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
