Southside Guesthouse is now my "Edinburgh home" and would not consider staying anywhere else. This was my 7th stay. Once again my room on the top floor was perfect, a comfortable and private place to relax and catch up on work. As always the highlight was Franco and Lynne's breakfasts; the food is excellent, it's the best Scottish breakfast I...

It's a beautiful guest house and from the moment of arrival I was made to feel welcome. I loved my room, which had a four-poster bed, sofa and its own coffee machine, and breakfast was absolutely delicious.

This is how hospitality is done! 2 great stays, and now I know to look no further than this lovely place when next in Edinburgh. Close to the centre of town and hosts as gracious as Edinburgh itself. Near public transport, beautiful parks and restaurants. A quick 15 to 20 minutes walk to town.

Characterful and homely guest house. Wonderful breakfasts and attentive hosts. So much nicer than staying in an impersonal chain hotel and the food would be very hard to beat. A couple of minor criticisms would be the low pressure shower (maybe because we were on the top floor) and my wife found the bed a bit uncomfortable (she has a...

We loved the place. The service was above the expectations. We appreciated variety in breakfast and mainly hospitality of Franco and Lynne. Small things like " that Franco remembered the country from which we came or my first name" were just couple of things, which I noticed that do not happen to me during travelling. Fully recommend their house !

On our vacation, this was our first night after a long air travel from the USA. Using a bus to Waverly and a taxi to the guest house was easy and uncomplicated. Using the local buses after that was easy and economical. The guest house hosts were friendly and very helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We would definitely...

This was a flying visit to Edinburgh, arrival Friday night and departing Sunday, in order to attend a family wedding. Used only public transport, but trams from airport, buses to and from Princes Street, or taxis all convenient (buses fixed cash only tariffs, no change given). We were provided with secure code access as our hosts were not in overnight,...

We stayed for 2 nights while visiting family. The guesthouse is very conveniently located close to Pollock Halls of residence, if you have family studying at the University. It is also close to Holyrood, Arthurs Seat, and not very far from the city centre. Our room was large and very tasteful, with a four-poster bed and a camp-bed made up...

First time in the UK and not sure where to stay. Found Southside on the Internet and booked. From he beginning Franco was helpful and my booking went without a hitch. My gratitude was even more after meeting the friendly gentleman. The room was so nice and clean, I felt like a king. The old building with historic decor blew...
