Just spent four nights at this lovely hotel! I requested a room with architectural interest, a city view and no barn door bathrooms. The hotel’s representative, Cara, told me the room she assigned me did have sliding bathroom doors, but she was confident I would love it. She was right - the room was wonderful. The bathroom was gorgeous, the living room so roomy and comfy and the views were spectacular. The bed was smaller than we are used to (UK king sizes are different than US) but it was just fine. This hotel is very spread out and getting to and from your room can be a trek, ours involved multiple steps and two different elevators, so if you have mobility issues it could be tricky. Super clean and everything we could have asked for and more. The location is absolutely perfect - right in the middle of the royal mile. We will definitely seek out Cheval hotels for our future trips.

Just got back from a 3 night stay with my kids, and Cheval is an exceptional hotel. Location can't be beat if you value walking proximity to the Royal Mile and Old Town attractions and life (5 min from the Castle, Grassmarket, Waverly, etc). It's literally on the Royal Mile, located next to a "close" (alley) with stairs that take you straight down the hill towards Waverly and other restaurants and attractions, so it's incredibly central and convenient, with the tradeoff being it can be a bit noisy at times with foot traffic, tour groups, and so on going by. But well worth it in my opinion. The room itself was perfect - we stayed in a one bedroom apartment with a small bed alcove, a separate living room and a small but full kitchen. Worked great for the 3 of us, felt like a cozy home vs the sterile room you'd find in some of the larger hotel chains. Fast wifi, which is always a win as well. The hotel staff and service were excellent. Very kind, helpful, great with advice. The onsite restaurant is good as well - Luckenbooths. Only thing to keep in mind is if you buy the breakfast package with your room they offer a more limited menu selection than the regular breakfast menu. For picky eaters (i.e kids) you might prefer the full menu, but both were very good with healthy choices, and the staff were great about making it work regardless of which menu. All in all, we would definitely stay here again.

Dear Kevin, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent stay with us at Cheval. We're delighted to hear that you and your family enjoyed your time with us and found our location and accommodations to be exceptional. It's wonderful to know that our central location right on the Royal Mile provided easy access to all the attractions and activities that Edinburgh's Old Town has to offer. We're thrilled that your one-bedroom apartment felt like a cozy home away from home, and that you appreciated the additional space and amenities compared to traditional hotel rooms. Providing a comfortable and homely atmosphere is something we strive for, and we're glad it resonated with you and your family. It's fantastic to hear that you found our team to be excellent and helpful during your stay. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service, and it's always rewarding to receive such positive feedback about our team. Thank you for your comments regarding Luckenbooths. We're glad you enjoyed the breakfast options, and we appreciate your feedback on the menu selection. We'll certainly take your comments into consideration and pass on to their management. Once again, thank you for choosing Cheval Old Town Chambers and we look forward to welcoming you and your family back for another memorable stay in the future. Kind Regards, Nic Sforza Reception Supervisor

Just the BEST experience ever! The service was great - above and beyond. I had Joy and the younger, tall, skinny guy. There's a washer/dryer so you can do laundry while you're out. The location is awesome, it's a couple minutes from Victoria Street, Edinburgh Castle and it's on the Royal Mile. The view was beautiful, the room was clean. I had been traveling for awhile and there was actually hot water in the shower. I also loved that the rooms had codes instead of a key to keep track of. The only cons - didn't love all the stairs, need more outlets near the bed and in the bathroom. But minor things really. Would definitely stay here again!

WOW. Who knew. We all loved this concept. Traveling Europe with the family (4 of us, 2 kids 7/10 YO) when we arrived we all just loved the space. This is like a VRBO but with a front desk and a restaurant and bar. We got a 2 bedroom and it was big and unbelievable clean. Spotless clean... This hotel is in a 400 year old building so you need to navigate lots of doors and stairs to get to your room, which at first was a little intimidating but really zero problem once we learned the way. The rooms are very well appointed, the being was fantastic and the space was perfect for us. this is a 10/10. The location is the HEART of the city. you are right in the middle of the Golden Mile, I mean RIGHT in the middle, there is NOT a better location. Our booking came with Breakfast, which was good, while the menu was limited they did have flexibility and did a nice job accommodating. Overall a great value, very family friendly, an unbeatable location and amazingly clean. We loved this concept of a hotel/apartment.

Dear Samdebrit, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us! We are thrilled to hear that you and your family had a great stay and enjoyed our unique apartment. We have indeed a very unique design and style due to the age of our building that can seem confusing on check-in, this is the reason we always make sure our team escort every guest to the apartment as part of our welcome experience. I would love the opportunity to welcoming you again for another memorable stay at Cheval Old Town Chambers, hopefully in the near future. Kind regards, Nic Sforza Reception Supervisor

We had a really great short stay city beak at the Old Chambers. The apartment was highly finished, spacious, clean and very comfortable with great views. Some of the apartments sit above Luckenbooths restaurant which we used more than expected because the breakfasts and last minute fish and chip dinner were so good. The Old Chambers are very well placed on the Royal Mile to access both the old and new towns on foot, so we got to see a lot and savour the atmosphere of Edinburgh in a short space of time. The reception staff were all extremely helpful. A special mention to Nicola who welcomed us, showed us around the apartment and had arranged for really lovely birthday flowers for my wife to be in the apartment when we arrived, as requested. In summary, a great stay and would certainly use again for future Edinburgh city breaks.

We stayed at the hotel when converting our civil partnership to marriage at the neighbouring City Chambers. The hotel is spotless, and its rooms are fully equipped, which we very much appreciated. The staff goes our of their way to help with even the most unusual requests, and is extremely friendly. Overall, excellent service, and very enjoyable stay!

We absolutely loved this hotel/apartment and could not have chosen a better location. Traveled w/ a teenager, so having the 2BR apartment was perfect, having private space for all of us. The unit was truly an apartment w/a small kitchen, washer/dryer, 2bathrooms, a living space w/ desk to work on. Great place to unwind & relax after busy days in Edinburgh. The location is not to be beat- right on the Royal Mile across from St. Giles Cathedral, and no more than a 15 minute walk from all the tourist attractions! Fantastic!

We stayed for three nights. Arrived early but our room was ready - in fact we had been upgraded to an apartment with a separate bedroom - room 107. Apartment was clean, comfortable and well kitted-out if you wish to use the kitchen facilities. The bed was very comfortable but the bedroom was a bit tight on space. Bathroom was nice and clean with a shower over bath and a bidet WC. There was a complimentary bottle of wine (although I didn’t find it to be very nice), and milk and bottled water in the fridge . A handwritten welcome note as well. Great location opposite St.. Giles, could have been noisy from the street but the windows were well double glazed. Communal areas of the hotel were spotless and smelled fresh and clean.. Staff were all very polite. Expensive but decent value for money.

We are just back from a two night stay at Old Town Chambers and it really is such a fantastic establishment in my opinion. The location is second to none. The reception desk staff are all so friendly and nothing was too much hassle. A special mention to Daniel who helped us with our bags to our apartment , who later had to pop up to help us work the chrome cast tv and who was always so interactive and friendly with our toddler each and every time we crossed paths. Before booking I read every apartment description and went through reviews on trip advisor with a fine tooth comb! I think it really paid off as booking a deluxe one bedroom apartment on the City View side was definitely the best choice. The Royal Mile side is naturally more noisy and I think this is the reason some have complained of noise, and as I was worried about noise at night with our toddler sleeping. Im so glad we booked a City View apartment and honestly we heard absolutely nothing both nights. We were also very kindly automatically upgraded to a deluxe one bedroom with balcony and Im so grateful as the balcony was a fantastic addition and with a gorgeous view over New Town and the faint sound of Bagpipes playing in the distance was just gorgeous when looking out at the city.. (room 603) and I will definitely be requesting it should we return (which i definitely hope to!) The apartment itself was beautiful and I really loved the interior design, comfortable family size L shaped couch and fab little kitchen with everything you would need. Bed was also really comfortable and huge! Plenty of room for 2 adults and our toddler who we bedshare with. Ample space! I think it was a super king? It was massive anyway! The Cheval App is super handy. I found the reception staff super fast to respond to any questions or requests I had, even before we arrived. I think its imperative to download it to enhance your stay experience. Lukenbooths restaurant were also really nice and all the staff again were very accommodating and friendly. We had breakfast on both mornings and lunch on the day of arrival. For anyone travelling to Edinburgh with young children I also want to reccomend a company called Kids Cabs. Its a small family run business but such a fantastic service and excellent value. When researching private transfer (to ensure we would have a carseat for our toddler) the prices were well over £100 for return to the airport and even at that, the small print was clear that carseats couldn'teve even be guaranteed! I was so happy to come across Kids Cabs, we paid £70 return and were delighted they even had a rear facing carseat for our almost 3yr old installed in the car. Keith was a diamond! On time and excellent communication not to mention a bargain considering what other transfer companies offer! All in all, the standard of care between Keith in Kids Cabs and all the staff at Cheval Old Town Chambers it was 10/10!
