This was our second stay at Piries when we visited Edinburgh with friends and it was very pleasant, we didn't have breakfast this time as we were leaving early. Pleasant staff, very helpful and we had a very large room in the main part of the hotel rather than where we were last time. Would come back !

Nice quiet area, main hotel might be ok but we where shoved into the bedsit next door!! We told reception when we arrived that 3 of our bulbs where out and left two days later with still no main lights! There was no room to walk in front of the bed without smacking yourself on the television!

Where to start... We have made the biggest mistake when booking Piris as we always book more expensive hotel. However since recommended by Thomas Cook we decided to stay in a budget hotel for once.We were travelling as a group of 6, 3 couples. On arrival we were informed that they only have 2 rooms for us and they could...

The hotel was terrible. The Hispanic receptionist received us very badly - looked like she was having issues with an earlier customer and she had some ridiculous attitude throughout our stay there. Also seemed to be cheap online but when you actually get there, there are so many other additional payments you need to make. I am still waiting on...

The hotel is situated about a 10 minute walk from the train station (depending on walking speed) and was pleasant from the start. Our room was a big as we needed it to be, given we had no intention of lazing around in it. It had a very high ceiling but i've read other rooms are not so spacious. It's...

I don't know how to describe this hotel, lovely hotel, so British i think. Our room in basement floor, with British decoration. Clean room, clean bath room, the location is near from Haymarket station, so easy to catch this hotel. The receptionist so friendly and helpful.

Had 3 warm & comfortable nights here. After a little blip with our room, we were relocated to another one, with no Hassel. The room was warm, the beds were very comfortable & the breakfast had a good variety on offer. Would not hesitate to stay again. Thank you to the staff.

Good hotel worth money what we paid. Close to everywhere in the city. Friendly staff. We had a problem with shower, but they fixed this the same day. We can recommended this, if you visit Edinburgh for few days.

Hotel is a bit dated and our room was very small. It was very clean though. Need to sort the door closer leading to lower level rooms as the door bangs very loudly every time it is used. The room reminded me size wise of a blackpool b and b. Width for double bed and tables either side full stop.

Stayed for one night with my 12 year old daughter. The staff were very friendly and nice. The room was lovely no complaints at all. Nice part of the town and just a minute walk from haymarket train station and the tram. Even left our bags the morning we were leaving so we could go out shopping before heading home....

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
