The only place to stay if you value better than home from home comfort. The staff are without exception, polite, professional and friendly and eager to fulfil any request to enhance your stay. The central location for Edinburgh with parking, are extras reflected in the price, but even the cheapest apartment in the Chester Street annex is luxurious and spacious...

Fantastic hotel, great friendly staff, amazing location right in the heart of the Scottish capital! Breakfast to the room was the best continental I've had in any hotel. All in all a must stay when visiting Edinburgh!

Stayed in Chester Residence during my work trip to Edinburgh and i have no words to describe how excellent this place is. Probably the best serviced apartments I have ever stayed anywhere in the world, and compares to some of the best 5 star hotels. Size and comfort of rooms amazing, service phenomenal, makes you feel like home and more....

My third or fourth visit - another apartment but as always excellent. Comfortable, well equipped and perfect location. Staff could not have been more helpful. The only place to stay in Edinburgh. No restaurant though. Breakfast is delivered if required and is truly first class.

We started our minimoon here with a bang - a bed covered in petals and surrounded by candles and a fridge stuffed with luxuries. The apartment was immaculate and the staff wonderful. We had the Penthouse (note: up 4 floors with no lift) which has an amazing bathroom complete with TV. The champagne breakfast was superb and no request was...

On arrival the reception staff were professional, polite and friendly. We were shown to our apartment by an equally friendly gent, who went through all the room had to offer. Check previous from me. I have little time for Tripadvisor these days. What I write is totally unbiased. We looked for good quality and central location, this place kept trending. Booked for 2 nights - never done EDI before. The concept is superb, an apartment/hotel. Quality, fit and finish is superb. The apartment is equipped with every comfort, audio, visual...

My wife and I just went to Edinburgh for our 5-year anniversary, and had an absolutely perfect time at the Chester Residence. We had a 1-bedroom apartment on the first floor and it was incredibly spacious and had all the amenities you would want from a hotel or apartment residence. Centrally located for the most part, you can walk to...

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
