I had an excellent stay in The Novotel Edinburgh hotel. Amazing breakfast and very comfy beds. Nice staff, a lovely bar downstairs.with live music and on top of all that a mini wellness spa to relax your musles after a long day of walking around exploring the city. I alzo liked the big searching screen on the wall with mappy,... More

It did the job. A place to put your head for two nights. Clean basic functional rooms. Great breakfast, friendly staff, make sure to book breakfast when you check in, cost more if you don't . Small but nice pool and gym facilities. Close to city centre, 10 min walk.

I stayed here with my husband and baby for 3 nights. The hotel & staff were exceptional. We had an early flight and arrived very early for check in but were accommodated and given a complimentary drink while we waited. The receptionist even gave my baby a teddybear which was a lovely touch! We stayed in a suite which more... More

A really great hotel in a perfect location. Breakfast is impressive and worth paying extra for. The family room was big and comfortably held four of us. Parking is worth paying for underneath. All in all I would return.

The 'Centre' location isn't right in the middle of things, but it's close enough to walk to all of the Fringe venues and other activities we had planned. This was my second stay at a Novotel in the same month, so it was interesting to compare and contrast. I much preferred the room in this one, and check in was... More

You will need to take train to downtown Edinburg but it's only three stops and inexpensive and a great way to see the country site. The rooms are pretty utilitarian but clean and very functional. The restaurant offers daily breakfast and a nice atmosphere. We enjoyed our stay there.

Staying in Edinburgh for our regular Moonwalk weekend, we always stay in this hotel. Walkable to the castle and a short walk to one end if Princes Street, the location is great. Not the cheapest hotel in town, but a pool that is never overcrowded (with jacuzzi) and good food (whether in the restaurant, bar or room service), it offers... More

We loved staying here with the kids. Our room was nice and spacious. Kids enjoyed the entertainment area and pool every night. Their food was absolutely delicious, we had the New Year's Eve dinner which was lovely and great selection of breakfast. Located central and walking distance to most touristic attractions. Great vibe and friendly staff. Would definitely stay there... More

Stayed here overnight - business and leisure. Location is good - reasonably central and had its own underground car park - which you have to pay for ( and it is a tight squeeze to get in and out ). Friendly staff. Modern building. The bedroom was spacious but 'odd'. Having the toilet in a small room separate from the... More

Thank you so much for your feedback. Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
