We spent three nights there. Perfect location, just 10 minute walk from the old town. It also a very quiet location during night. The room was large and comfortable, there is also excellent breakfast. Florence was a great host!

We stayed for 4 nights in this really charming period house with a landlady who really treated us like part of the family and really made our stay wonderful. The rooms are so Large and airy but have plenty of heating if needed.

What can I say about this b&b, well it's kinda like going back in time. The landlady Florence is a lovely old lady who takes care of you like your nan would . If you have seen the film" the lady killers" with Peter seller's you will know what I mean. We had the top floor suite which consists of... More

We spent three days in Florence's house. The rooms were very clean and beautifully furnished. Florence has taking care of us by sharing great advices to discover Edinburgh. Breakfast was also really tasty and really scottish. Location is really nice and at walking distance of nearly every hot spots in Edinburgh. Nothing to add, just perfect.

Stayed in this B&B for one night as a family to look around the university of Edinburgh . Lovely and regal surroundings from the outset , very grand stair case and we were shown to two lovely bedrooms which were spotlessly clean . Florence is the host and she is very welcoming to her beautiful home . Very close to... More

Had to get accommodation in Edinburgh at the last minute for a family funeral. Called from the US, and Florence was most helpful. However, when I arrived, my booking had gone missing - NEVER MIND! She gave me the lovely suite for the same price for two nights. Her wonderful B & B is only a few doors down from... More

My wife and I came to A Georgian Residence for my birthday due to its reasonable pricing and good reviews as well as its proximity to the centre of Edinburgh (5 mins walk from rose street). Breakfast included, huge room. Would come back in a heartbeat. Only thing I'd improve is a better shower. Host was fantastic and always friendly... More

A delightful Georgian town house in the graceful Moray Place. This place is ideally placed for peace and quiet but is only a short stroll from all the entertainment, shopping and galleries that Edinburgh has to offer. Florence is an attentive and helpful host. Breakfast is excellent; cooked to order from an extensive menu and served around a large table... More

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
