Great price if you book in advance ,nice clean room ,great place if you want to be in central location for everything ,it's about 200 yds from Waverley station so if you don't need a car don't bring 1 as there's no parking at the hotel and parking costs about £20 for 24 hrs in multi storey about mile away... What a surprise when you find the entrance you may take a step back! But trust me the old building still has a lot of its old features remaining while been turned into a fully functional budget hotel which in turn makes it quirky. The rooms are spacious and clean with bath and shower, king size beds and a few... More

We would have given this hotel a 5 star rating if it wasn't for the hotel entrance, but saying that i'm not sure how they could improve it as it's situated in a back alley. There was a strong smell of urine but this is certainly no fault of the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and... More

This Travelodge is perfectly located for exploring Edinburgh. The train and bus stations are an easy walk away as are the tour buses and airport bus and tram stops. A fit person could walk to anywhere in the city. The only negative is the very scruffy lane in which it is situated but that involves a walk of only a... More

Nice n clean rooms , friendly reception even though reception is a very small area ( not sure if they were renovating then ) I would have appreciated extra perks like microwave in room etc to help warm milk for kids.

Myself and my husband were given a beautiful big room with dual aspect windows looking out over Princes Street, wonderful check in receptionist who was pleasant and friendly and really helpful. Room clean and fresh, would definitely stay again. Central and only a short walk from a tram stop.

Stayed here in mid-July 2016 for a total of three nights. Room was very nice - plenty of space and a lovely comfortable bed. The location was great - right in the middle of everything, and a short (less than 5 minutes) walk from Waverly station. Would recommend and would stay again

Familyroom was huge, cleanliness could be improved but overall very happy as my issues where rectified immediately. Super friendly staff. Loved the location as it was opposite the train station. The entrance is in a little side street and looked uninviting but it didn't bother us.

Not only was the room comfortable but the views were excellent. We could see Princes Street, the Scott Monument, Edinburgh Castle and Calton Hill. I doubt whether you could get a better view from other hotels close by.

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighborhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
