Spent Hogmanay based here. Couldn't be better. Lovely staff who treated us to a big room on the fourth, quiet floor. Always smiling, chatty, knowledgeable, great people. Queen Street is central, but not too busy. In fact, perfect for exploring this beautiful, historical, cosmopolitan city that you have to visit, it really is that good. Plenty of nearby pubs, clubs,...

Welcomed by friendly staff on arrival. Hotel is spotlessly clean, from the corridors to the room and bathroom. Comfortable bed, decent size, warm room.(215) Hotel is ideally situated for shopping and for Edinburgh's many attractions. Breakfast is available as an extra, however many cafés are only a couple of minutes walk away. Only niggle was that we were woken by...

Credit where credit is due - this experience at Travelodge was very good and exactly what we were looking for. I'd booked this trip using credit from a previous stay at a Travelodge in Manchester which I'd received a refund for after a very poor experience. This stay in Edinburgh was in a different class. All the front desk staff...

I always like staying at the Travelodge because the beds are highly comfortable and it is always very quiet both from outside because of the double glazed windows and inside. Great value for money even if you don't get WiFi and breakfast as standard.

Stayed here 26th Dec for a couple of nights.. Ideal location, 5 min walk to Princess St.. Front desk were very helpful and let us check in early on Monday. ( about 2pm ) Wife thought the bed was a bit uncomfortable and no hair drier in room.. Will stay here again

The hotel is very close to the train station and to the centre of the city so location-wise it was perfect. There were also many shops, restaurants and galleries nearby. Inside it was very basic and the building was old but it was what you would expect from a Travelodge. I always finds the beds very comfy and this was...

I've stayed in a few Travelodge's and sorry to say this is the worst. The rooms are small and very basic the room I stayed in was right next to the back door of a bar or restaurant so it was noisy. The bathroom only had a small shower with a curtain, the sink was dirty with stains around the...

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
