Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.

Clean rooms, everything one needs is in it. Great location, city center is in walking distance. Whenever you need something they will bring it to you. We asked for bread in the evening, they did not have it in stock... so next thing I know they went to the store and brought it to our room 20 minutes later. Very helpful staff.I recommend to take the time and read the guest information manual, everything you need to know is in it.

We stayed 2 nights at Holyrood. It is located in a quiet area and within easy walking distance of the start of the Royal Mile. We were near restaurants and could easily walk anywhere in Edinburgh. The apartment was clean and roomy enough for 3 of us; and the kitchen had everything we would need to cook a meal. Staff was very accommodating. We all recommend Holyrood!

My wife and I stayed for two nights in August to attend the Tattoo. The location just off the Royal Mile was handy for walking to all the features that were of interest to us. The efficiency unit suited our needs and the nearby Tesco Express had all the necessary food items. Of particular note was the assistance provided by Nathan at the front desk. All requests were met with a friendly helpful response.

The kitchen is nicely set up with all the tools you are likely to need. However, the shower could not maintain a consistent temperature, alternating between chilly and nearly scalding from moment to moment; their was no dresser or closet for clothing, just a very small wardrobe which was also occupied by a safe and ironing board, no place to put luggage so the one tiny table got stacked with those things and wasn't able to be sat at; perhaps worst was that the king sized bed was actually two twins pushed together so one of us was always falling in the gap.

This is the second time that we have stayed here. We chose the place for the great location to the Royal Mile and visiting the Fringe. We enjoyed the kitchenette and facilities in the room. The room including bathroom and kitchen were very clean, although found the sofa in the room could have done with a vacuum or cleaning, as well as under the beds. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, apart from one woman who I had the misfortune to deal with twice. She was extremely unhelpful and unfriendly, which was a shame as dealing with her was unpleasant and let the hotel experience down. Would recommend and definitely return if we ever visit Edinburgh again.
