West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.

Stayed only one night after completing a disappointing 5 day tour of Scotland. We would have loved to stay here longer. Very quaint, friendly service, comfortable room and located close enough to walk to dining. Breakfast was excellent and I would recommend this property as excellent value as well.

We stayed at here just as the city was closing down due to the covid19 virus. The B and B is beautiful and enchanting. Our room was comfortable and had a magnificent view of the castle. the breakfast was delicious. Everything was clean and tidy. However what made our stay superb was the staff who were so kind and considerate during our stay. As you can imagine, the stress of trying to leave a country during a global pandemic is overwhelming but the staff made our family feel totally at ease. From perfectly cooked breakfasts, to tips on where we could walk to, to warm and friendly conversations. This place will forever have a special place in our hearts because of your kindness and hospitality. Thank you. We hope to return one day and see Edinburgh with people and life, but in the meantime stay safe and well.

B+B in Edinburgh is in a really lovely, elegant location within the city, and is in a very impressive building that has been sympathetically restored, with some lovely public areas, particularly the first-floor library. The bedroom was beautiful and spacious, and the reception we received, including that for our little dog, was just wonderful. All of the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and we would certainly stay here again. There are some lovely comforts to be enjoyed here, particularly the breakfast, which we were able to take in the bar area, which meant having the dog with us, which is rare in any hotel at breakfast (Edie says thank-you again for the sausage!). But it is the staff team here who made our stay so lovely in one of our favourite cities.

This is a really special experience due to being a high class 19th century house with wonderful views. It includes a fascinating library which fills with morning sun to be enjoyed in comfortable chairs. When we were there Edinburgh was cold and windy but inside was warm and we went out in the morning up to facing the weather. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere complete the experience.
