Last time I was in room 4 (views of the castle) this time room 14 , larger and with wonderful views across the city. Another excellent experience. The staff could not be more helpful , my room was lovely, and the décor of the building wonderful . Constructive criticism , need a desk lamp not a table lamp on the... More

Good location. Nice room. Then we had breakfast - their idea of a full Scottish is a sausage, beans, bacon and a fried egg. They were out of everything else! It's wasn't even as if the place was busy. So, if you want what they advertise - bed and full scoiish breakfast - then this isn't the place to stay.... More

Dear Stuart M, Thank you for taking the time to post your comment on TripAdvisor, and please accept my sincere apologies for your experience with us. On the date that you stayed, we unfortunately did run out of tomatoes and mushrooms at breakfast. For this I can only apologise. This is a very rare occurrence, and I am extremely sorry... More

We stayed in December in the family room on the top floor. The hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly, quick and efficient. The decor in the lobby and bar were had a modern twist but really suits the building. The room was lovely, comfortable and we had a great stay. The only thing stopping me from giving a 5... More

Can't rate this place high enough, the staff were totally fantastic, very helpful and polite, the room was a tad in need of modernisation but very nice and comfortable, you can bring your dog and they will also provide dog beds, I don't think I've ever been to such a great Hotel

Nice hotel with lots of character. Our room (12) was small for a double room and a bit dark. Whole hotel a very hot, slept with window open and heating off and still too warm. Only other small thing was no parking and £2.60 an hour to park on road (sure we could have found it cheaper if we were... More

We visit Edinburgh every year and have tried various hotels in various locations. This one has become our favourite after 1 night's stay! The staff were extremely welcoming and we felt comfortable immediately! The room was spacious and clean with lovely views of the castle! Breakfast was delicious and served with a smile! We will certainly be back!

I was in Edinburgh for the first time and really loved this city. Hotel was not so close to the city center but no long walk than 15 minutes. Breakfast was fine and very old fasion interior. Very much recommend.

I am currently staying at B+B Edinburgh. My friend and I stayed here a week ago for one night before a tour around the highlands for a week. Our first room 15 was clean, on the fourth floor and overlooked Edinburgh castle! Which being our first night in Scotland was so special! Bathrooms are so clean and the shower was... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
