We often stay at the ER and it is always very good, the Suites are unique and of a high standard. The bathrooms are spacious with lovely big showers and baths. Makes a refreshing change not to bump into yourself when you go to the bathroom! The staff go out of their way to help and are very friendly. The... More

Booked here for a one nighter in Edinburgh and could not believe how good it was. Staff from arriving to leaving could not be more helpful, even at midnight when we fancied a nightcap having come back from a special party. Free private parking at the back is a huge bonus! although the valet seemed disappointed I'd found it myself.... More

My husband and I spent two nights at this hotel The décor is based on Victorian which was beautiful with brass bed and beautiful Victorian bathroom. Nice surprise to have our breakfast bought to our room in the morning. Location within walking distance of Edinburgh. Quiet peaceful hotel. Staff helpful and friendly

Booked this place as a surprise for my other half's birthday and was not disappointed. From the moment you arrive you are made to feel very welcome. Room was amazing with fantastic views of the city. Bathroom was bigger than I've seen in most places. Felt at home right away and the breakfast choice was very good and catered for... More

We have just finished our 20 years of timeshare at this property. It's had its ups and downs, and some visits have been better than others. This time it was first class and it seems to have improved under its new owners. Staff very friendly and efficient, And nothing too much trouble. Cannot comment on the food as Edinburgh has... More

Enjoyed our stay. Special thank you to Stefano. He was extremely friendly and great with our son. Made us feel very welcome which was appreciated after a long travel day. Very nice rooms. Plenty of space and the beds are comfortable. Wifi works good. Walkable distance to old and new town.

I cannot say enough great things about this hotel! The staff is gracious and wonderful and could not do enough for us. Our room was perfect - we booked an oversized room with a large bedroom, 2 bathrooms with a view of Edinburgh. It had so many things to enjoy from comfy beds, great showers and huge bathrooms. We enjoyed... More

Have been staying here regularly for almost twenty years and never disappointed. On our last stay we were upgraded on arrival to a Townhouse suite which is enormous! The lounge area was a vast room incorporating large table and six dining chairs, a sizeable three-piece suite and two single foldaway beds against one wall. Even then, there was more than... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
