Nice small hotel with good location, but ask room from the back side, not facing the noisu road. Airport tram starts in front of thr hotel, very good. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast should be preordered to save 7£ (16£ vs 9£). We ordered King level room, but did not get that big room. So be careful that... More

Old structure but very modern facilities inside. Comfortable size rooms. Bathroom very modern and usable. Nice workout space. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Good location. Five minutes to new town and ten minute walk to old town.

I was traveling with my wife and our little boy. I had chosen this hotel because of the location and since it was my first stay at an Indigo hotel. Unfortunately it did not impress. The front desk staff where very helpful and warmly welcoming. The room was a good size and had the basics. The cleaning of the rooms... More

Good location. We travelled from the Airport by tram which took us to York Place which was right outside the hotel. Rooms were nice but rather small and view not good from back of hotel. Bed very comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful especially on reception. Unfortunately could only give 3 stars because I was very disappointed with the breakfast.... More

After 4 weeks on the road we were happy to prop in Edinburgh for 4 days and our stay at this hotel was very comfortable. Its located a short walk from the main hub of Edinburgh and Waverley Station. Access to the action is easy with the nearby, hop on hop off bus, a trusty place to start to get... More

Fantastic location and very easy to get to via airport on tram. Opposite York place which is last stop. Reception staff also fantastic and checked booking via phone prior to arrival with warm greetings upon arrival. Negatives were cold breakfast and very slow/ troublesome free wifi.

Great location for a really nice hotel, but have to agree with some of the other reviews about the lack of attention to detail. The room we had was lovely, but it was really warm and we struggled to get the air con to work. We had a back room, so nice and quiet, but no view - this wasn't... More

Perfectly located close to train, bus, taxis, shopping district, and much more. It was a great landing spot after long touristy days. The staff was extremely accommodating and charming. The only thing that drove us mad was the incredibly inaccessible wifi.

The hotel is in a good location: close to train station and Hertz car rental. It is also in the walking distance to most of the city highlights. Our room is on the highest floor and looks like an attic. It has a mini living room and a mini study room. Not sure if all the room is like this.... More

Stayed here for a weekend in July. It falls short of the usual quality delivered by indigo hotels. Service was very good. The location is excellent. The room was very tidy and the bathroom and shower were clean and well maintained. Good towels. Free minibar (non alcoholic) and snacks. There were a couple of major faults though. The bed was... Dear dcollier, Thank you for the feedback following you stay with us. I'm disappointed to learn we felt short of our normal high Indigo standards. I will address the room faults raised with our room divisions team as a matter of urgency. I'm glad you were impressed by our location & service from the team. We hope to have the... More

Staying in Broughton & Calton

Neighborhood Profile
Broughton & Calton
Lying where grandiose New Town townhouses give way to malls and utilitarian housing, Broughton and Calton have long been transitional neighborhoods with a mixed identity. It’s here that Edinburgh’s gay village found a home in the 1980s. But gay culture is anything but overt along bustling epicenter Broughton Street; even if polished pubs, hip bistros, smart delis and art galleries all speak of affluent good taste. The top of Leith Walk is more ragged. This major thoroughfare boasts a famously gritty gay club, as well as a strip of good Indian restaurants. Regal Georgian and Victorian townhouses preside over largely deserted streets in Calton, where only the occasional restaurant or hotel brings much life. Even so, a steady trickle of idlers and picnickers pass by to climb Calton Hill for its wide-open lawns, wonderful city views, and curious monuments – an Athenian-style temple among them.
