Wonderful welcome to Scotland. Superb advice on where to go, which buses to catch (super-important), helpful friendly staff who made my early arrival and late departure smooth and easy. The breakfast was very good and I wish I could have stayed longer. Kia ora (thank you) David and your team for the hospitality.

We booked our stay on line without really knowing much about Edinburgh but we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay as it turned out. We were welcomed on our arrival by David, the proprietor, who was invaluable helping us to find our way around the local bus service and giving advise on local facilities. Our room was very... More

Booked this for 2 nights for myself and mum based on previous reviews from trip advisor. Initially I didn't really understand the hype as on first impressions this presents as a 'normal' guest house. Room was large and clean and building traditional and nice enough... But nothing extraordinary. Then it became clear just why this is so popular and so... More

"economy room" was in an extremelly tiny depandance - a small house with two rooms on the parking behind the hotel; despite odd first impression, it was clean, the staff helpful and friendly, good standard scotish choice for the breakfast, free parking, bus station 11 towards the centre just accross the street; and really cute garden in front of the... Hello. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at A-Haven. Perhaps choosing the economy room was not for you. I understand you probably decided on the cheaper room to save money. Next time a larger more expensive room might be a better choice for you. We find younger couples and people who cannot negotiate stairs very easily appreciate these rooms. Hopefully,... More

This was a lovely surprise. More than a B & B but not like a proper hotel, there was a homely, friendly atmosphere. The room we had was at the back overlooking the car park and was quiet although the house is situated on two main roads. The breakfast room was lovely, very elegant and yet welcoming. Situation was perfect... More

Always a pleasure to stay at the A-Haven Townhouse Hotel - stayed for 5 nights this time. Wonderful food, clean rooms, comfy beds. Great value with a bus service every 10 minutes. Have stayed before and will stay again.

This hotel is a little outdated, but we would still stay again. Great value for the cost and easy access to the city center. The staff are friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay, although breakfast service starting at 8:30am was not very convenient.

We stayed here for two nights and found the staff to be helpful and friendly. Our room was a little cramped, but had everything we needed and the bed was very comfortable. The decor, although appropriate for a Victorian house, is somewhat tired and the skirting boards could definitely do with a good clean. There was also rather a stale... More

Thank you for your nice comments. Breakfast is served on a first come first served basis. We always cook food to the required temperature of 75 degrees. This must be done slowly otherwise the surface of the food would become overcooked. We would never take chances by serving food quickly just to meet customers time requests. This would be dangerous... More

We are just home for a weekendish (Sat - Mon) break. I had done some homework on decent places to stay in Edinburgh/Leith that were reasonably priced and was not disappointed. When we first arrived we walked through the stunning little garden, that was very fragrant and welcomed us to the Hotel. If only there had been seating there it... More

Well maintained Hotel with private parking. The guys were really welcoming and helped us with sorting out buses and directions. Advised us about eating out with excellent results (Fishers on old docks). Excellent breakfast with lots of choice, well cooked and served. Lots of little extras in room. We had a very small room in the roof but it was... More
