A very modern, unique designer, well equipped two bedroom apartment, located one minute at most from Princes Street. Not inexpensive, but good value for money given location and facilities provided. Staff were extremely efficient and helpful in responding to a number of requests or clarification of points of detail relating to stay to ensure our American guests requirements were met.... More

Stayed here for one night during the fringe. The hotel was quiet and the breakfast was great. My husband and I thought the beds were very firm (we big work up with dead legs and arms). The decor is a little dated. The rooms have good amenities and the staff are helpful. Decent location although it was a bit of... More

The staff at The Rutland were all exceptionally friendly and helpful. The hotel is positioned at the end of Princes Street, conveniently located to visit all the sights. The room we had, had a superb view of the castle and Princes Street, a very large room and confortable bed. The bathroom is large too, with quality complimentary products. The tiles... More

We stayed here for one night during the Edinburgh festival. We dropped our bags early and dashed out for the whole day not returning until after midnight to check in. The night manager greeted us and quickly checked us in and had already taken our bags up to the room. Nice touch. Great location at the end of Princes street,... More

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times. I have always been impressed by the staff and quality-however, this time the hotel surpassed itself. They contacted me the day before to upgrade me to one of their brand new apartments-it was beautiful. Great kitchen, living space, bedroom was enormous (does need a wardrobe) and the bathroom -luxurious. We... More

The location is worth the off-putting things. Right on Princes St and an easy 15 min walk to the Royal Mile, so you have history and commerce easily accessible. The sleeping room (# 5) was a good size, but like most older hotel rooms, a little tight for two adults and two large suitcases. Furnishings had a older, stuffy character... More

私たちは、Hotel本体ではなく、近くの(30m位隣)apartment に泊まりました。(たぶんThe No. 15 Rutland Street Hotel Luxury Serviced Apartments のGround floor one bedroom apartmentのこと。)

The big pros: the décor, the staff, the room and bathroom sizes, the robes, the nespresso machine, the tea making facilities, the lift (rare in most old buildings in Edinburgh we hear) and the breakfast at Kyloe or the Huxley. The cons: as already mentioned in previous reviews, the hall by the lift and stairwells smell absolutely disgusting, the hairdryer... More

Hotel is in an excellent location at the west end of Princes Street only a short walk from the tram stop. It is an old building which has been modernised on the inside including a small 4 person elevator which was very welcome. We syaed in a junior suite on the second floor. Every member of staff - reception, restaurant, housekeeping - were exceptionally friendly, polite and helpful. Our room was large, clean and well appointed. The breakfast choice and content was very good, if maybe a bit slow in arriving. During the Fringe Festival all Edinbyrgh hotels are expensive, The Rutland offered reasonable value for money. One criticism - the mirror over... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
