I was just here for one night. The staff showed me to the room, which was a nice touch. Staff were friendly. Room was big, clean and comfortable and cool. Bathroom was big and apart from a small issue with the door handle, was fine. Breakfast was fine (especially the haggis). Great location at the end of Princes Street. It...

We stayed in this hotel a few years ago and really loved it. The front desk staff are terrific. The hotel itself is a small place with only a few dozen rooms but centrally located. This time we stayed in one of the apartments. It was spacious, beautiful and quiet. We joked that the Queen must have stayed here because...

We stayed here in a two bedroom apartment with our two young children and loved it. The apartment was HUGE and really well finished. The location is very central and an easy enough walk to the Royal Mile (20 mins with young kids). The staff were very helpful and friendly and dinner at Kyloh is a must! The only downside...

Booked three rooms for an overnight stay. Perfect position with boutique style rooms. Each of the three rooms on the third floor were lovely. We got a very warm welcome and we had breakfast in the attached pub which was different. Would I return, absolutely.

I booked this hotel for a short notice get away in the capital. It was a little more expensive than I would normally have allowed myself to pay, but it was so worth it. Everything about my stay was 5 stars from the apartment to the staff. I stayed in apartment 17/3 and it was so quirky and beautiful, we...

Visited Edinburgh on business and decided to try new hotel due to no availability at the hotel we always stay. Reviews were great and everyone seemed to recommend the property. To my surprise the hotel did not match our expectation at all... very poor quality finish in the rooms, there was horrible smell throughout the hotel and in the room....

When you pay £200 per night to be charged £2 supplement for a full breakfast, kippers or avocado on toast, orange juice and more than this for an Americano, latte etc - seems a bit extreme. Not sure if this is designed to put people off ordering but not a great dining experience. Service was slow, eggs were hard but...

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
