We spent several nights at the Glenalmond, and were generally pleased.. It is some way from the city centre, hence suitable if you are arriving by car (nobody in his right mind would want to drive in Edinburgh proper). It is too far out for most people to walk into town, but there are frequent buses on the main road... More

Our room was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed to be comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious. There is parking available and it is possible to walk into the centre of Edinburgh or take one of the frequent buses. It is also possible to walk to a number of good restaurants. Newington is a beautiful part of Edinburgh with many... More

The rooms were lovely and very clean but considerably small (downstairs) given the price. We were not made to feel particularly welcome by the main host on at least a couple of occasions... We stayed for just under a week in the high season and couldn't find alternative accommodation.

Beautifully furnished in keeping with the age of the Hotel. Spotlessly clean, home cooked breakfast the choice being wide and varied. Thanks to Fiona and Jimmy for looking after us and for all your local knowledge. It's on a main road into the city with buses every few minutes, fare being £1.60 or £4 for all day pass. We were... Although our room was a bit small it was tastefully done and with a comfortable bed. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of options all cooked fresh. Ideal location if you want to hike up to Arthur's Seat and bus stop outside with a easy access to the city centre.

The rooms were very clean and the bed was quite comfortable, but you could hear quite a bit of noise from the road and also other guests moving around, and the shower was by far the smallest I have ever seen, even caravans have bigger showers than this! Despite others inding the hosts to be friendly, our experience was the... More

Easy access to and from the city from the very good, small hotel. Lovely people looking after the guests and a comfortable homely feel. Really pleasant to be just outside the hurly-burly of the centre. Great breakfasts as well. Well worth a visit.

Jimmy & Fiona were great hosts in amazing guesthouse. It all started at the greeting from Jimmy who helped haul our bags in and up to our room. The room was clean and very comfortable with tea & biscuits in the room. The bathroom was also very clean with a small but good shower with good pressure. The breakfast prepared... More

The room was clean and the hosts VERY nice, however the shower was horrible and was either ice cold or scorching hot. Quiet room with super comfortable bed/linens and breakfast was delicious!! The room was small but for a place to lay your head, it was clean and cozy.
