We booked a Sunday night stay. Very difficult to get parked close to hotel, but perseverance eventually paid off - but be aware meters live from 8.30am Monday! Decent room, no outside noise, friendly staff. Would stay again.

Having booked our room with Booking.com we arrived with our reservation in hand. A 15 minute palaver then ensued between myself and an unfriendly and unapologetic receptionist who could not find our booking on the computer. After around 10minutes of dithering the Australian accented man finally suggested creating a new reservation. I requested he ensured that I was not charged... More

I was debating between old town and new town for my Edinburgh stay. My wife and I both strongly agreed that our choice of new town was the correct one. Old town is wonderful to visit, but new town has more of an urban sophistication, and a lack of tourist throngs relative to new town. Plus there are so many... More

The recently refurbished rooms are modern and clean cut giving a nice sense of calm, comfy beds and nice cafes on the premises for morning coffee. Topped off by a great location in the heart of Edinburgh and lovely staff - I'll definitely be back.

We upgraded a couple of days in advance and were very happy with our large 7th floor room with great views over Leith towards the Firth of Forth. Huge comfy bed! We found all the staff to be very friendly and efficient. Despite being one of Edinburgh's best hotels, there is no stuffiness at all. We decided against booking breakfast... More

The bathroom was too small. Few elderly people could have coped with it. The room had no heat control. The front desk told me to use the fan in the wardrobe but it wasn't there. I had to phone for it twice and it arrived after an hour and a half. You expect better service and facilities at £290 per... More

Stayed here for a few nights as part of a business trip, and really can't fault it. Had a bit of an to and down walk from reception to my room but otherwise all was good. Room was nice, breakfast pleasant, staff very nice. Only reason it's not 5 stars is I didn't really get the 'wow' factor. Though I'm... More

The staff was welcoming and friendly. The room was beautiful and comfortable. Complimentary breakfast with stay was nice while touring the city for a few days. Location was perfect for easy walks to the essential tourist places. If I visit again, I will stay here.

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
