Lovely hotel with really friendly staff, our room was clean and nicely decorated. It's a little far out from main Edinburgh attractions but would stay here again as it's very reasonably priced which makes up for the short walk into the centre of town

My friend and I got a great online deal on a room here so was hesitant about what the place was really going to be like, but I was pleasantly surprised. Beautiful hotel, HUGE rooms, just far enough away from all the hustle and bustle but close enough to be a short walk to any of the major attractions. Kirsty...

Most of all we'd like to thank the staff for all the kindness and the helpful informations to our trip to Edinburgh. Everyone in the hotel we spoke to was very kind, special thanks to Kirsty. We had a relatively large room with modern furniture, everything we needed inside. It was clean and warm. The breakfast and the food choice...

Lovely clean room, much more spacious than I imagined it would be. It's within walking distance of everything. Staff were friendly enough. I would probably stay here again. I didn't think much to the restaurant though. I'm glad I had the breakfast included with the costs. We also decided to eat there on our first evening - no atmosphere and...

Booked online and hotel exceeded our expectations! We received such a warm welcome on reception we immediately felt at home. The receptionist was a woman with glasses who mentioned her boyfriend was from the west of Ireland also. She was so friendly and immediately showed us maps of the city giving us tips. Room was bright and large. The bed...

Stayed with my partner for three nights. Had a brilliant time. Hotel was clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. Room had everything needed for a city break. Breakfast in the morning was great value at £8 if booked the night before. Excellent location for seeing the city - would definitely recommend.

Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighborhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighborhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
