But pricey ! But a clean nice Hotel with friendly staff. Lovely cooked breakfast. Close to a very nice steak house that was recommended by the Hotel receptionist. No on site car parking but NCP with in walking distance. Tesco's & Sainsburys also close by 👍👍

Great hotel in a the heart of Cowgate and perfectly located for all sites. Rooms were well equipped and spacious. Very close to lots of cocktail bars and clubs. Breakfast was plentiful and their fixed price dinner was great for the price. Highly recommended for anyone on a budget.

Stayed for 2 nights - needed sat nav to find but once we did we found it very comfortable. Fairly central but a few walks needed to get to main attractions- friendly staff and breakfast was excellent- parking limited and entering round the back seemed odd but rooms were tidy and bed very comfortable- all in all would recommend and... We had a wonderful time at the hotel. There was a variety of items for breakfast every morning. Which included hot and cold items along with lots of fresh fruit. The room we booked was for 4 people and had a king size bed, a roll out and a pull out couch. Even with all that furniture there was still... More

I really enjoyed the stay at this small hotel. Rooms were large and bed was very comfortable, large with soft bedding which made it perfect. Staff was excellent, ready to help with everything we asked for. Breakfast was very good indeed (the Scottish one). Quick access to old town or Princess street with frequent bus service, close to the EICC... More

Just returned from an overnight stay at the hotel and within walking distance to the city (both Princes Street and Grassmarket). The bedroom that we stayed in was modern and even though compact we still enjoyed our stay. The room had everything we needed. There was a good choice at breakfast. The hotel bar is a little small but most... More

Had a fantastic stay at the Edinburgh City hotel with my husband. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Upon arrival we were checked in very promptly and efficiently and advised to the nearest car park we went to park the car (the hotel give 20% discount to the price of using the car park). On our return... More

Myself and my new wife visited the hotel for 2 nights just after our wedding. We arrived to a warm welcome at check in time. We were asked what we would be doing on our stay and explained that we were out looking at tourist things and relaxing as it was our honeymoon. We put our bags in the room... More

Lovely receptionist (young, blonde hair) helped us split the bill, which we were grateful for. Very good service. Comfortable large room. Only complaint would be that it was stuffy, and we couldn't open the windows. Other than that, it was a very comfortable stay, clean and well looked after, and we would happily stay again. Good value on a deal.

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel. The room for the first night was not as we had expected and was not the same as the online photos. Staying in Southside & Holyrood

Neighborhood Profile
Southside & Holyrood
Many of Edinburgh’s student hangouts gather around university buildings in Southside, the sort of neighborhood that supports a long string of second-hand shops and eateries serving ethnic food for just a few pounds. In August the student population is replaced by vast numbers of boisterous visitors here for the Fringe, Edinburgh’s world-class comedy and arts festival which headquarters itself here. Flanking Southside are two great parks. The Meadows is a vast flat and sporty space where football, rugby, tennis, cricket, croquet, and golf often all take place side by side. Kids in its big playgrounds add to the joyful noise. Far bigger and much wilder, Holyrood Park extends to the east and provides a real hike up Arthur’s Seat, but the district is best known as the site of Scotland’s Parliament and its premier Royal Palace—and their steady stream of sightseers.
