Despite the ongoing upgrade refurbishment we really enjoyed our stay here, our room had just been newly upgraded and was beautifully decorated - the complimentary breakfast in the room was a nice touch and we found the staff very friendly- would definitely recommend Babis hitel

Booked in for a head, neck and shoulder massage with Jenna. Staff were very welcoming and professional and Jenna provided an excellent, thorough consultation before proceeding to ensure I got the most out the experience. It was lovely to relax fully with expert care after a busy week and all the tension I carry in my shoulders melted away. Their...

The hotel is still undergoing exterior renovations making it look almost like it is closed. Despite this the interior and the rooms are all in excellent order having been recently renovated. The room was spacious, very clean, and it had an interesting decor that mixes touches of modern and older styles. The bathroom has a good-sized walk in shower but...

I wanted to treat my Mum and partner to Afternoon Tea so chose one of Edinburgh's best hotels presuming that the experience would be second to none. Sadly Mum was extremely disappointed. Firstly with the welcome which she said wasn't very welcoming at all. Secondly in the choice and amount of sandwiches and cakes provided which she said was probably...

On arrival it was clear this Hotel was under renovation which gave me some reservations about what may or may not be open. I arrived and was met by two very cheerful bellman and was shown to the reception area. I was quickly checked in by...

We stayed at the Roxburghe on our Honeymoon and were impressed with almost all aspects of the hotel. The location was perfect - great for both George Street, Prince's Street and Royal Mile. The hotel was beautifully decorated and the room was lovely (although we'd have appreciated a stocked mini bar as the hotel bar was being refurbished), and the...

Stayed here for 2 nights for a conference in Edinburgh. It's in a central location and is currently undergoing some refurbishment but even with that going on I had a lovely stay. The reception staff are exceptional and take you bag to your room, order taxis etc and nothing was too much trouble. The bedroom was so lovely - I...

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Roxburghe Hotel is currently undergoing a top-to-toe refurbishment. More than 100 of our bedrooms and suites have already been given a smart, new look - and it's these rooms that guests will stay in when they book accommodation. For the next couple of months, we'll be tackling many of the ground-floor spaces, including the hotel restaurant and bar. Whilst these are closed, we will serve a complimentary breakfast as room service or take-away from the lobby until the end of March 2017; dinner will be served in the lounge area and also available as room service. Travel in style and stay in The Roxburghe Hotel in the heart of Edinburgh city center. The hotel rewards its guests with an unrivaled location on historic Charlotte Square. This premier 4 star hotel has recently refurbished its meeting space, public areas and all 198 bedrooms, many with views of Edinburgh Castle. Ideally located between George Street, the stylish home of the cities top bars, restaurants and boutique shops and Rose Street with more traditional pubs and eateries. ... more   less
