We really enjoyed our recent long weekend visit. Just off busy Princes Street, the hotel is still very central but quiet and away from the road traffic. Fronting onto the attractive Charlotte Square and adjoining the fashionable George Street, we had a standard bedroom on the back overlooking Edinburgh Castle. The room was well equipped and a good size. Breakfast...

Stayed here for two nights. Beautiful building, friendly and helpful staff and a lovely room. And fresh milk in the fridge for a cup of tea of coffee. Very clean throughout and beautifully decorated for Christmas. I will return to this hotel when next in Edinburgh.

My husband and I stayed at the Roxburghe for our 10th Wedding Anniversary at the start of December. We booked a standard double room but we were upgraded and given free Champagne when they found out that it was our anniversary. The room itself was stunning, better yet it was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in at...

Having previously stayed here in March and having had a bad experience we decided to try it again and weren't disappointed this time. The check in was quick and easy and the staff really friendly and helpful, helping us with our bags and parking the car. This was quite expensive for the two days (£22 per day) but i'm guessing...

This hotel is in a great location. It has recently been updated. Very clean. Staff very helpful. The restaurant is very good for a quick bite or dinner. Absolutely loved the hotel. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is well located. The rooms are amazing, nice atmosphere in there, clean, modern. It was great having the opportunity to go to the swimming pool. And by the way, the water at the reception tastes delicious with watermelon or orange in there. We definitely felt well in Roxburgh!

My partner and I stayed here for four nights while I was on business and he was tagging along on pleasure. We absolutely loved the hotel. It definitely had its quirks in terms of layout, courtyards, bar areas, little stairwells, etc., but we had no troubles whatsoever and enjoyed its charm. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted...

We had an overnight stay here recently and the hotel is beautiful and full of charm. The staff couldn't do enough for us while we were there and they were so welcoming. We did have a slight issue with the heating in our room and as there were no other rooms available the staff brought us another heater and organised...

Great place to stay , in the heart of town. Nice sized rooms and the public areas are fantastic. Only eat breakfast as I was at a private function but both meals were very good Only problem was the wait for a table at breakfast but that was my fault because like every body else I went at 9-30 am

Good location, friendly helpful staff. We asked for quiet room if possible and were in room on third floor. We were told room overlooked square but window was a skylight as roof sloped at side of room so not really a view and made room rather dark.Good selection at breakfast and tea/coffee making in room. When checking out we mentioned about...

Staying in New Town

Neighborhood Profile
New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.
