We spent one night at Brooks Hotel on arrival in Edinburgh from the USA. Staff was very friendly and helpful with early checking in. Location is within walking distance to shopping. Breakfast was adequate.

Stayed during the Edinburgh Festival and Brooks Hotel was fantastically located to enjoy everything on our doorstep. The hotel doesn't have great views and isn't located in the most glamorous part of town such as the centre but these are very small criticisms and reflected in the price. The rooms were very nice and appeared to have been recently refurbished... More

We found the staff extremely helpful. Overnight parking is a short walk away in a secure underground park. The room was very clean and the bed extremely comfortable. We had an excellent nights sleep after a hectic day. Exit time at 11 am meant that we could have a lie in and a leisurely breakfast. Fantastic. Will stay again.

It's the second time I stayed at the Brooks hotel. I liked the atmosphere and the guest room (nice Whisky bar). Rooms located on the Grove Street are exposed to the traffic. The service is good and the team cares about the customers (my luggage was delayed by the airline)

We stayed here for two nights. Staff were very friendly. Room was quite large and looked like it had been recently redecorated. We had an alarm go off in the middle of the night which I think was the fire alarm. It only lasted a few seconds, enough to wake everyone up but then stopped, no staff came to tell... More

Booked for 2 nights for marathon weekend. Room very compact especially the bathroom - shower only. Downstairs lounge area with honesty bar was very comfy and great place to chill with friends. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance.

We arrived a little early, so staff tagged and put our luggage in storage while we went for lunch. Once we got to our room, we were very happy with what we got. Very spacious, clean and overall really nice. The only issue was that my bed was quite uncomfortable as it was just what appeared to be a sofa... More

We took the King Size Room B&B. Room was a fair enough size, but was nice and comfortable and bathroom was fairly appointed. TV could have been larger, but was sufficient for the time spent in the room. Full Scottish Breakfast was really nice, and staff were all friendly and helpful. Can't complain about the rate, as it was the... More

The price was that of a room for 4, the room was sold as a room for 2 but the bed was a bed for 1. Super expensive super TTTiny room. Seriously I am a big guy but I and my wife could not sleep together in a bed that small. Good decent location, clean. The staff were also kind.... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
