Booked for 1 night and the service from the reception was good and efficient.our room was clean, warm and comfortable and had a great shower with large fluffy towels. Breakfast was spot on. Would return again for the price and not far from the city centre.
This is second time we have stayed here. Staff are so helpful and friendly . Breakfast is great and my friend is gluten free ,this was not a problem. Rooms are spotless and very comfy beds. I would recommend this hotel for your Edinburgh stay.
Had a wowcher for the hotel but still had to pay £10 to upgrade to a king as there was no standard rooms availble. I was happy to do this but the room was two single beds pushed together, not a king bed. Afternoon tea was the worst i've had. The cakes felt like they had been sitting out and the sandwiches were rubbish tbh. The room that afternoon tea was served in had no background music and was dead silent, so there was no atmosphere and it felt awkward. This room was also in need of some new furniture as the couches we were sat at had rips in them. My breakfast came with an egg shell on the plate and underdone eggs so I didn’t even touch it. Also didn’t utilise our late checkout as I was looking forward to leaving!
Had a wow voucher and paid £50 extra for a Saturday stay , can honestly say it’s the worst afternoon tea I have ever had and I have had quite a view in various places, the bits of cakes looked liked they had seen better days, sandwiches were disgusting the only thing that was ok were the scones ..was definitely not good value and certainly would not come back
Had a lovely stay at this hotel. Had misgivings due to previous reviews but we were very pleasantly surprised. Definitely good value for money. Rooms very clean and comfortable - bed and pillows very comfy. Floorboards do creak as mentioned in other reviews but it is an old building so to be expected and didn't spoil our trip whatsoever. Staff were very friendly and attentive and breakfast was really nicely and well cooked to your preference. Good location for city centre and lots of shops and restaurants nearby. We will definitely be back and having parking at a city centre hotel is a definite bonus.
Stayed for two nights, guy at reception said it was only one night and made us show all our paperwork . Room had two windows, one with a view of a blank brick wall and the other was broken with a sign saying it would be fixed 'in the morning'. It had obviously been there for weeks. TV aerial was broken, we had to fix Iit before we had any signal. No refill on refreshments, so no milk for tea/coffee on second day. Lying in bed at 8am enjoying our last lie in and someone just walked in, no knock on the door!! Breakfast was good though.
We arrived to a very warm welcome. Lovely clean, spacious room and only 10minutes walk away from the centre. There was an honesty bar which was well stocked and the room was full of comfortable chairs and sofas with plenty of board games to play should you wish to do so. I will definitely be returning!
We stayed at The Brooks hotel and it was very cosy and clean. The rooms had everything we needed and we loved the honesty bar where you can have a nightcap before bed. The staff were very helpful and we will definitely be back
The service from check-in to departure was friendly, professional and as good as you will get anywhere. The food in the restaurant at breakfast was excellent and served by lovely staff who you really felt cared about you as a customer. Room was spotless and had all the amenities you would require. Bed was very comfortable and gave me a great restful sleep. Excellent location for short walk to the old town.
We stayed for three nights as part of a City break. The staff were friendly and very welcoming. Our room, a superior double had two singles beds pushed together but they were comfortable. The rest of the room was clean and pleasant. Breakfast was served in a small dining area. The menu had lots of choices. We had a Full Scottish one morning and Eggs Benedict on another. Lots of other choices. The hotel is a 20 minute walk to the centre but Haymarket, five minutes away has lots of eateries and pubs.
