Clean, welcoming, friendly staff. comfortable room and bed. Good value. Fantastic afternoon tea and cooked breakfast, excellent breakfast menu. Would recommend. Well positioned not far from city centre close to amenities and with good bus service.
My sons bought me a Wowcher stay at this hotel as a birthday gift as they know how much I love Edinburgh. I booked for a weekend stay and also a compact double room for my son and his girlfriend. On arrival we were checked in early and then went to have afternoon tea which was included in the wowcher deal with a bottle of prosecco. We enjoyed the tea in the lovely courtyard outside but weren't offered the wine or prosecco. The rooms we found to be comfortable but lacking the boutique feel and a bit worn in areas( net curtain hanging down, marks on bedding and no complimentary toiletries in our twin room)but beds were comfortable, shower was good and the room quiet so had a great night's sleep. Breakfast was in the dining area and included in the price. Selection was good and staff very attentive and friendly. Location wise Brooks Hotel wasn't as central as where i would normally stay but still within a reasonable walking distance , although a trek if you walk everywhere like we did! The disappointment for me with this hotel is the fact we were charged an extra £70 supplement bringing the wowcher deal to £219 this was purely because it was a wowcher and not because it was a weekend as there was no supplement on my sons room. For me this defeats the object of the deal as you're paying nearly half again! Also I asked about the prosecco we didn't receive and was told we would be given it when we collected our luggage, needless to say We were given nothing. Overall lovely staff, could be a lovely hotel if spruced up and cut the ridiculous supplements. …
This hotel was by far the best place I've stayed at in Edinburgh before. It's a small, personal, unique hotel where the staff have time for you, nothing is too much effort. Staff are polite, helpful and friendly. The room was without fault and the food we had was lovely. The communal areas are unique, comfortable and relaxing. It's a little bit further out of the main centre, but only a miles walk or short taxi ride if you're not that fit. It's definitely well worth a stay and I'll be recommending it to family and friends and would definitely stay there again.
Excellent value stay via Travelzoo deal in this somewhat bizarre hotel with an eclectic mix of furniture. Our room, accessed via the fire escape, was comfortable and of reasonable size but would have benefitted from better maintenance of windows and plumbing. Breakfasts were good despite current Covid limitations with a variety of cold and hot options. The included afternoon tea was pleasant but rather basic and unimaginative. All the staff were friendly and helpful, particularly those in the restaurant. Parking outside the hotel is extremely limited and if travelling by car, alternative parking should be arranged.
Very friendly staff. Enjoyed the afternoon tea and bottle of wine. The reception room was quaint and nice to sit in. Lovely little outdoor terrace. Did not use the honesty bar but great idea. Scottish breakfast was lovely. It was a bit noisy but it is Edinburgh. Would stay again
