My Christmas present from my husband a couple of nights away to a Hilton hotel! On check in the staff couldn't be more helpful, room not ready but we were early however if we waited a bit longer we could have an upgraded room. When we opened the door my husband was gutted at how grotty and rundown the room...

Booked a trip 3 months ago on a weekend deal. My girlfriend dislocated her knee the week before our visit. I called the hotel and they were able to give us an accessible room so she didn't have to struggle to get over the bath into a shower. When we checked in late Friday evening the two check in staff...

We stayed here for a weekend in January. The checkin process was very smooth and staff were very friendly. We had booked a small double and yes it was small but for mainly sleeping in suited us fine. However we were located on the top floor at the end of the corridor the room was quite close to the main...

Stayed here for 3 nights for my birthday. The place is awful. Got a good rate and was pleased. Until I checked in. Bathroom tiles had no grout. Shower was mouldy. Carpets were stained. The tv was fuzzy. Floor boards are so bad that when you walk around the room every thing wobbles and shakes. Every piece of furniture is...

As per the title. Staff were amazingly nice. Overall very good experience, although the building and rooms feel kind of "tired" and could really use some refresher. Bed/mattress on the firmer side - slightly too much to my liking. However bathroom is another story altogether - I get it, it's an old building, however using the bathroom felt like doing...

I am a Hilton diamond member.. so is my partner… we stay at Hiltons A LOT… we are pretty used to the standard that the Hiltons position themselves as and we pay for the privilege of enjoying that level… this is not a Hilton nor is it a doubletree… This hotel may once have been a grand old hotel and...

I stayed two nights here recently to meet up with School Friends for a weekend. I got a good rate in the January sale - this cushioned the blow with my expectations. The hotel first impressions when you arrive outside in the street is that of a sandstone building which is quite attractive on the eye. Once inside, the hotel...

This hotel is well positioned near haymarket train and tram station. Lots of places to eat close by as well as a beautiful cathedral round the back. Walking to grass market and princess street is easy enough too. Staff are lovely and the welcome is wonderful

Pros - Good location, around the corner from Haymarket station and about a 10 minute walk into the main area. - Very spacious (stayed in a King Deluxe room), very clean and warm. Bed was comfortable and slept well while we were there. - Lovely warm welcome, cannot fault the staff who were friendly and offered assistance without hesitation. Cons...

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
