This is an older hilton and to be honest is needing some TLC. Stayed in the part across the road from main hotel and it was very comfortable and clean, but a lot of the paintwork is chipped and damaged and the lift is looking sad! Saying that, the staff are very welcoming and the service is great, and I will...

When you visit this HILTON the brand is what your paying for. The communal areas were nice and clean. My stay was for 3 nights B & B. The buffet breakfast was marvellous but at the end I don't think I got my monies worth. The room (001) was a double which seem as though it had been cobbled together...

Upon arrival on Grosvenor Street, we saw two Hilton hotels and firstly went over to the main building - there was a large queue as they had obviously just had an influx of arrivals, once we got seen to we were told we were staying in the Town House building over the road. As soon as we entered there, we...

This has to be the worst afternoon tea experience I have ever had! It was a Groupon deal (£29.00 for 2 people) Voucher holders were put to the back of the bar area out of plain sight. The afternoon tea itself consisted of: Under-baked bread rolls with minimal filling (one sliver of salmon and half a slice of cucumber on...

We stayed here for one night using our Hilton honours points - after reading other reviews I thought we had made the wrong choice - but the hotel was much better than expected. We upgraded to a King and had a lovely large room in the corner. It was opposite the lift which worried us at first but we couldn't...

An older Hilton that fits the bill of location and price in the centre of Edinburgh only a few minutes walk from the hay market. The hotel itself is old and needs a really good refit, however the rooms are all well equipped and clean and tidy so no real issues. Staff all very good and professional

Spent 2 nights in this hotel while visiting Edinburgh on a stag do. Excellent location with the city centre a 10 minute walk away. There is Hayemarket station round the corner so convenient for the airport. The staff I dealt with were polite and friendly. Would recommend staying here.

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.
