This is a filthy desperate place would not waste your money time or energy on this place. Stay home and re think your options. Worst decision ever to stay here. As a Hilton brand they should be ashamed of the offering. Stay in a travel lodge if you want value for money or stay here if you want to feel robbed
Bit old school but it has big rooms with high ceilings. Could have been a bit cleaner, there was a lot of dust and the towels were a bit tatty. Mattresses need changing, needs better lighting and more plug sockets in this day and age. Good value for what we paid though and good location. Breakfast was also good.
Comfy bed and great breakfast at a really good price. Room was too hot but there was a fan and standing ac which were perfect. Few maintenance things in the room around a previous leak in ceiling, stain on carpet and window ledge which need TLC. The shower curtain needs to go in the bin and be replaced.
What I liked - Very quiet hotel - very cheerful and help staff - Clean and big room - Nice shower - had iron What I didn't like - Far from the city centre - No bathrobes - No slippers - No bath room accessories - No safe - No fridge - Dated furniture What I think can have improved - Expensive Will I revisit this place? No
We only stayed here for a couple of nights and spent the majority of our time out of the hotel. If you were planning to spend more time inside I’d recommend to choose an alternative hotel. The place wasn’t overly exciting, rooms were okay, maybe a little tired looking. We didn’t have any issues as such, we just weren’t blown away by the place. The location wasn’t amazing as it was a fair walk towards the shops, castle and other attractions.
Rundown Hotel, the reception/ bar area is acceptable however the rooms are a disgrace. Not only do they need updated the rooms are filthy. The staff could not be more pleasant from checking in till having dinner which was lovely. Breakfast was ok. Would not recommend this hotel
Stayed here for a night an April 2022 when visiting Edinburgh for a show. Before I start, I have to say that the employees and staff in the hotel we're absolutely marvellous. They were helpful, friendly, and chatty, and you could see by their own interactions that they were getting along together and enjoyed their jobs. The issue is that the place is just tired. The carpet in our room (3) was very dirty, and the windows were the same. The general cleanliness of the room just wasn't up to scratch. The place has an air of a place that needs some good money spent on it to bring back the character of the lovely old building it is. We ate in the evening and had breakfast and has no issues whatsoever with the food. Very tasty, and very reasonably priced.
Firstly the staff were excellent. Very friendly and welcoming. The location is close to the tram route and surrounded by a number of bars and eateries fairly close to the city centre. Unfortunately the room was disappointing. The carpet had numerous stains. The paint was flaking with plaster peeling off the upper walls. The bath and the shower were adequate. The room appeared not to have been dusted. We mentioned this to the receptionist on our first night who offered apologies and advised it would be cleaned. Unfortunately, the cleaning was perfunctory. Breakfast was bland and tasteless with overcooked bacon and sausage. The hotel itself is tired and requires a makeover to bring it back to the present day.
Arrived on 6th with my daughter . We were given a dirty room unmade beds and dirty linen. We where given an alternate room but the next day we went on tour came back to a another uncleaned room. Definitely will not visit this hotel again. Covid was supposed to change the protocols of hotels. On website it is overrated .
A very pleasant hotel, excellent location for our needs, although hotel is looking a little tired, was assured by a member of staff that a total refurbishment was about to take place. Arrived earlier than planned but was pleased that my room was available straight away, ideal for dumping kit and getting straight into city centre, enjoyed a couple of drinks in hotel bar whilst watching football match, had a laugh with the bar staff, breakfast was both continental and traditional, service from the chefs was great and they were very generous with the portions, believe it may have been the head chef who was able to answer my colleagues question re Haggis!! Overall a most enjoyable staff with pleasant helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again!
