I was at Edinburgh for some tourist visa work. Arrived late at night. Super friendly staff, very welcoming. Made my check in very easy! Although I asked them beforehand if it would be an issue. No issue from their side. Room was very comfortable. Huge double bed, good sized bathroom. They also had an amazing restaurant. The location is perfect,...

Stayed here a couple of times now and had the same inefficient check in experience both times; understaffed and then 10 questions when finally get to front of the queue. It irks me having to give my contact details when it's on a prepaid company account and I've stayed there previously. The whole place needs a deep clean, a lick...

We stayed here over new years for Hogmanay. We have stayed at many Mercure hotels and this is by far the worst. Appears as though the decor hasn't been updated since the 70s, with everything feeling dirty, including a mouldy shower. When we got to our room there was somebody else's 'business' in the toilet, and we were only given...

Excellence location right opposite the Scott Monument. Rooms are lovely bathroom is a little dated. Safe in He room is great but they really should dust around it. Stoor was really thick on that shelf. Toiletries are basic. No bottled water in the room. Tea making facilities but no biscuits. Staff are very efficient and friendly. Helpful too.

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighborhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
