A lovely place for a bit of relaxation We checked in at 3.30 and a room in the newer annex bit. We headed straight to the spa and had a great swim, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Later we headed down for a drink in the bar before dinner. Dinner was fresh and tasty. Hubby had scallops and fish and chips. I had salad and a very tasty pasta dish. Breakfast was good a nice buffet style although you could order off the menu as well.

Fantastic weekend. Hotel and spa was lovely and the food first class. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Had dinner on the first night and breakfast both mornings and couldn’t fault it. I had a massage which was lovely but just a bit short. Thoroughly recommend

Attended my brothers wedding here on the 2nd of September 2022. Have to say it was excellent. Having worked weddings myself in a 5* hotel in Northern Ireland I would like to say that everything was phenomenal. Beautiful hotel and location, staff top class and very professional. Would like to specifically mention Alex on the bar that night. (I believe his name was - From the Netherlands), Was fantastic the entire day, from before the ceremony until last orders at the bar. Lovely modern function room with a great outdoor area, Great for photographs etc Would love to come back when I come back to Edinburgh. Would recommend!

Simply a great place to stay! My holidays are often difficult as I travel with my 13 year old Labrador, but this was not a problem here, in fact I could not fault the enthusiasm of every team member in wanting to ensure my dog was well looked after, whenever we entered the bar area a bowl of water automatically would appear in super cute Joules branded bowl, so you can tell there had been plenty of thought go into what they serve the canine guests in, and it didn’t stop there. Our room was simply perfect, really well thought out for a canine guest, ground floor with patio doors straight out on to the lawn, just perfect for those just before bed trips out dogs like to make. There was a large dog bed and feeding station in the room along with a bag of dog treats. The room itself was also large giving plenty of space for a Labrador to walk around along with 2 adults. Now the key bit of attention to detail the dog can’t go in the Brasserie restaurant, which is absolutely fine, not everyone likes dogs, however each morning a table was laid especially for us in the conservatory so we could enjoy breakfast with the dog. The breakfast is a self service but premium buffet style, however as we had the dog there was no hesitation from the team in coming over and saying would you like us to serve you breakfast at your table, how good is that! It might sound a small thing but it made a massive difference as the dog wasn’t disturbed at all with us getting up and leaving her and going off to the buffet stations. One evening we did dine in the brasserie after a long walk on St Andrew’s beach the dog was snoring in the room! We had a 7 course tasting menu and what a treat it was outstanding food with our own personal service from one of the restaurant managers who knew everything in detail about each of the dishes she served to us, it was simply magical. The hotel was pretty busy, there were a number of American tour buses coming and going each day, weddings and private birthday functions taking place but you never would have known it, there were plenty of cheery team members well distributed in all departments which meant service was seamless. You saw a number of the same faces each day and they would remember where you had told them you were going out to and then enquire how did it go when you got back that evening, again a lovely personal touch. It wasn’t just because we had the dog either it was noticeable that the team were engaging with all their guests and making it s really relaxed and welcoming environment. We had opportunity to speak to the hotel general manager, who was often seeing passing through all areas of the hotel engaging with the team, it was really good to get an insight to what makes the hotel tick, clearly there is a big team of people keeping this huge well oiled machine running at pace and delivering what we found to be 3 great nights of excellent service, outstanding food, a relaxing spa and extremely well appointed bedrooms. People make the biggest difference and without great people a business can’t perform to its best. Thank you team Norton you made the biggest difference to our visit with your excellent levels of customer service throughout.

Only stayed for one night while visiting for a music festival. Wished it was for longer! The room was lovely - very comfortable bed, very clean - spotless - didn't want for anything, but felt at ease if there were any needs to be sorted out. Breakfast was really nice - couldn't fault anything there. And the spa the next day! Had a later checkout and were told we could stay as long as necessary after checkout to enjoy the spa. Setting - lovely - so relaxing. Staff - friendly, helpful. Will definitely go again - nice to go to Edinburgh and stay out of town for a change.

I stayed at Norton House for two nights with my husband and another couple. We used the spa and were impressed by both the cleanliness and how welcoming the team were. We ate in the bar and in the restaurant, the food was delicious and service was second to none. The staff on reception were also lovely and very helpful in advising us on getting into the city Centre. Absolutely recommend staying here, we had a fantastic stay, made better by such welcoming staff.

Had a very relaxing and enjoyable visit to use the swimming facilities and have a spa treatment. The staff were very friendly and helpful and having had many spa treatments over the years I was impressed by the professionalism and quality of the spa staff. Particular mention to Darren who was on reception that day who gave me a quick tour beforehand and made sure everything was to my liking before I left. I will definitely be back.

I visited the leisure facilities today and the highlight was the service from staff. From the reception team to the staff in the cafe/lounge and the gym and especially Colin. All the staff were very warm and friendly and an absolute asset to Norton house. Colin went the extra mile and ensured he did everything possible to achieve a good experience for me. The facilities were also lovely and clean and a very calming atmosphere. The gym is great and kept very clean, there’s a few machines that I am used to and enjoying using which they didn’t have but you can’t it all! Thanks so much to all the staff today, pay rise all round! Please pass on my thanks ☺️

We visited today for a much needed mother and daughters spa catch up. Having been before and enjoyed it so much we picked this one to go back too. The hotel is beautiful. The staff are very attentive and the facilities afternoon tea etc were faultless. 2 hour Spa Treatments that’s where it went right downhill. Having paid nearly £600 for the 3 of us I was well aware that all staff have to be well trained using Elemis My massage was the worst massage I have ever had. Having been a massage therapist for a number of years I could tell that the therapist was defo not qualified. The facial was okay but defo nothing like the luxury Elemis facials I have had before. Was more like a face wash continuously. I complained to the Manager and was advised that extra training had been scheduled for this particular person. Not really good fir my experience giving the amount of money I spent. My 2 girls had amazing treatments from their therapists who just happened to be wearing a different coloured tunic. An apology from the manager and a 3 month pass to come back to use the facilities. Having had time to think and reflect on the way home I’m sorry but I don’t think we will be back. Keep your trainees for groupon vouchers and itsison customers and let the people paying top dollar experience what the are paying for.

Dear Murraymint981 Thank you for choosing Norton House for your Mother & Daughter spa day and for your feedback. Although you enjoyed the facilities and afternoon tea service, I am very sorry that we did not deliver our normal consistent treatment quality across all three of your party and wish to assure you that all our therapists are qualified and receive ongoing training with our suppliers. I know my Spa team have been in contact with you and we look forward to restoring your confidence in our spa again soon. Yours Sincerely Peter

We booked this venue for our wedding utilising the small and intimate package plus 15 more guests. From the initial contact to wedding day excellent communication and regular meetings with event co-ordinator put our minds at rest and we’re able to meet our demands. We checked in the night before and stayed for two nights On the day our event co-ordinator Jillian Mackie was organised, calm and supportive. Waiting staff and bar staff were all attentive and considerate. All food supplied was top quality and plentiful. We were given a complementary upgrade to the Edinburgh suite for our wedding night , which was luxurious. All in all we had a fabulous stay . Would highly recommend this hotel for any sort of function or stay.
