This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Nestled in the heart of the city, the Edinburgh Marriott Hotel Holyrood is appreciated by guests for its prime location, a convenient starting point for sightseeing despite some opinions that it's a tad removed from certain attractions. Visitors enjoy rooms that are often described as spacious and contemporary, although there are remarks about some rooms needing updates. The hotel's atmosphere and cleanliness receive commendations, but opinions are split regarding value, with criticisms centered on the cost of services. While the staff generally provides commendable service, experiences of unfriendly interactions have been noted.

We came here on our first trip together as a couple and it was just such an amazing experience. The staff are all so helpful and kind and David the concierge in particular is an absolute diamond. The rooms are gorgeous and of course, there is so much to do and see in Edinburgh.

First time staying at Marriott hotel holyrood. David the concierge was fantastic the most helpful staff member out of the whole team. I attended the gym on Sunday 31st March with a family member and when I asked to use the gym the 2 girls on reception laughed in my face unfortunately I didn’t get their names, not all girls are as in shape as these to beauty therapists at front desk hint why I was going to use the gym so this put a bit of a dampener on my trip. The food in the hotel was very expensive for what you would receive the restaurants and pubs on the royal mile are more reasonable and a better experience.

I visited for a spa trip and the visit left a lot to be desired, with the staff at the spa reception bordering on rude. I booked via email and after a lot of back and forth got booked in. The man on the desk of the spa was fairly hostile towards me and didn't know what I was booked in for despite it all being discussed over email - was it for two people, was an afternoon tea included etc. The man was very frustrated with me as I had no ID to exchange for a locker key, and then firmly told me I was not to lose the key and I shouldn't leave it in my robe etc and that I must NOT take it home in a bit of an accusatory way. It felt very regimented and all stressed me out despite it meant to be being a spa day!! My robe they gave me then didn't fit (I'm not even plus size) and when I asked if they could give me a bigger size he said 'this will have to do' and it was a grey robe with a white robe tie from a different gown. All just felt a bit lacking attention to detail and no care for customer service. There was a relaxation room with tea and water but the hot water canister was empty, no sugar, and the tea bag slots were empty except for one of the slots. What I did really enjoy were the treatments. The woman who did my massage and facial was polite and attentive. She took care and gave me a lovely massage at the perfect pressure. She also used lovely products for my facial. I would definitely recommend her. She took her time to make sure it was a relaxing experience. Unfortunately although I enjoyed my treatments the overall experience probably puts me off coming back.

Warm welcome on arrival at 2.30, check in at 3 so we left our luggage as wanted to get some wine etc for the room. On our return check in was smooth. The room was disappointing, but was a good size. No air con Flooring instead of carpets Accessible room Adjoining door No wardrobe One chair No shelves for putting stuff on No bath mat Noisy outside early morning work And inside hammering No lid on the toilet! None of this was important enough to actually complain as we realised all the rooms were much same as hotel was undergoing refurb and rooms would all b without carpets. Also found out from staff that the accessible rooms do get used as standard double rooms which did surprise me. We had a great time in Edinburgh, felt the location was slightly out of the way but didn't spoil it for us. We used their pool and sauna which was very average. The changing rooms were tiny and not great. We done itison deal £149 I think it was, food in evening fab and service very good. Breakfast same. Server Panos was brilliant. All in all good deal, wouldn't pay full price for this hotel and unfortunately wouldn't return due to the rooms and location. The next evening went to 10 Hill Place and 4 star also and was like chalk and cheese. Far superior.

Just arrived home after our wonderful visit to this high end hotel. On arrival, David ( concierge) greeted us like royalty along with the other team members. Lunch was great 👍. Evening meal and breakfast were all extremely presented well and delicious. Rooms were spacious and very comfortable and clean. Huge TV and complimentary tea/coffee and shortbread. Swimming pool and saunas just made our stay perfect. I do have to highlight that members off the team do go above and beyond to provide first a first class service. This makes all the difference to a family with kids as it can be a struggle to manage your time and relax . If we could have taken David home we would have 👍. Many many thanks for a wonderful stay. This is our 3rd stay at this hotel and we feel it’s the only option now as we wouldn’t go any where else. The whole team at this hotel deserve a mention x See you all soon 🔜 The Hendos from Perth 🍷

Excellent 3 night stay. Hotel is still having work done on it, but apart from a few builders there was no inconvenience. Rooms large and well furnished. Excellent breakfast - would have preferred bacon not to be smoked. Pool, sauna and gym all good. Local to the parliament but a bit of a hike with suitcases from the station. A very relaxing three days

Visited for a 2 night mid week stay. Room was lovely, clean and warm. Bed comfortable and good to have a fridge to keep water cold. Staff were outstanding, reception, restaurant and cleaning staff all courteous, friendly and helpful. We also used the pool and sauna. One of the better hotels we have visited in Scotland.

On arrival nobody acknowledged us, then we sit at the bar and still nobody comes over. I then go to the bar and still ignored said hi and a miracle happened i could place the order. Ordered delivered with no teaspoons or sugar. Back up to the bar and ask for a teaspoon and honey! The look said it all and only one teaspoon. We staid for a while and nobody asked us if we wanted something else but the supervisor who ignored us before came to put the tv on. No Marriott standards at any time where demonstrated. Shame

Great hotel only let down by my pet hate, no doors on where you hang your clothes and wooden floor and no complementary slippers. The place is undergoing renovations so the pool was shut and we were woken by drilling at 0800 both mornings. Once the work is done this place is great, food is good and breakfast was top class. The room was a good size and well laid out . The best bed and pillows we have ever slept in. I would consider the climb up the royal mile if hills are not your thing, yes it's 10 minutes from the tran station but it's steep. I would recommend here
