Several old Georgian houses renovated into one hotel. Just adorable. The room was small but adequate with a pretty decent bathroom/shower. I had a really good night's sleep here as the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast was served in the Conservatory which I loved the sound of. Oddly, this room appeared newer and the Scottish Breakfast was just... More

Hotel was small but elegantly decorated. Located on a quiet street off the main avenues, and next to beautiful greeneries and gardens. Staff were courteous and were very accommodating to our every request. Breakfast was ok, the usual selection of fruits and baked goodies. All in all a very pleasant experience. Will definitely go back.

I've been in Edimburgh, in March, for the first time. My first choice's for an hotel, does not included Channings Hotel but, at that weekend, Scotland played against Wales, in rugby, and the other hotels were completly full. The travel agency recommend me the Channings Hotel and i liked it, i did like it very much. It's very cosy, the... More

Stayed here for 3 nights in the week before Easter, booked purely based on looks and reviews on TA so thanks ladies and gentlemen for that. Its a terrific hotel and whilst it might not be right in the centre (mile and a half away) its easily reachable using the excellent Lothian Bus service and its not that far to... More

I thoroughly enjoyed 4 nights at the Channings hotel and wil ldefinately be going back! The rooms are well presented in great old style and are spotlessly clean, the staff are friendly and our bell boy offered a detailed description of the view from the room identifying points of interest and information to support a visit. The breakfast is wide... More

We stayed here for 2 nights in March, and whilst searching through the Internet for days trying to find the right hotel for a good price, we came across The Channings hotel, which for £110 for 2 nights including breakfast you cannot complain considering The Jury's Inn wanted over £200 and not including breakfast. The rooms were nice and spacious... More

Just had a 2 night stay in this lovely hotel on our first visit to Edinburgh. The hotel is charming and the staff are lovely. We were welcomed at Reception by Mario who was very friendly and very informative about the places we should visit and how to get to them, he also recommended local restaurants although we ate in... A little further out to other places I've stayed in Edinburgh, but liked the fact this brought me to a new area of Edinburgh. Pleasant walk from the city also. Lovely cosy room, comfy bed, nice individual touches. Would stay here again.

As we walked in the calmness was great and their was a nice warm fire which was so relaxing as we had travelled a long way! This hotel is clean and the bed we slept on was super comfortable and so big, we had the best nights sleep. We had our two year old with us who was very much... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Channings in Edinburgh is an informal, relaxed hotel with a very friendly approach. It occupies five Edwardian townhouses in Stockbridge, one of Edinburgh's most popular 'urban villages'. To suit its location slightly away from the city centre, Channings is a wonderfully quirky property which feels a bit like a Scottish country home, full of charming Victorian paintings, prints, books, furniture and memorabilia that owner Peter Taylor has collected over the years. ... more   less
