We have stayed in this hotel during our 4 day visit in Edinburgh. Our room had a great view seeing both the Scott monument and the castle. The room was clean and spacious. The location of the hotel is excellent if you are in Edinburgh as a tourist. We went nearly all of the attractions in the old town on...

Rob - Preston. Late couples' booking for 3 nights' stay at Easter. Usual compromise between city centre location and quality/price of hotel (ca £100 per night). Restaurant mediocre, i.e. very limited dinner menu, typical English style breakfast buffet, extensive, but poor quality. Closest parking 6-7 mins away @ £13.50 per day (NCP, 10% discount through hotel). Room small but adequate,...

We stayed 20th April for a couples mini break and the hotel couldn't be more perfectly located. The hotel was clean, staff were friendly and they allowed us to store our bags before sight seeing. Slight problem was the room, it was too hot, even opening the window didn't cool it and at 2am onwards the fighting/shouting from drunks outside...

Stayed in the hotel for 3 nights! Very big and cozy room. Convenient chairs and a table (where you can drink a fine bottle of scotch whisky). Washroom is fine. A bit small reception area. Restaurant is friendly (they provided ice and glasses for whisky for us) Location is good (McDonalds is very close and the nightclubs is 5 mins...

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighborhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
