The location is fabulous. We requested an early check in. When given our room is was like a warehouse and we had booked a king size bed and given a double. The area was being being redone and smelled like turpentine. When we tried to change they gave us the run around about availability. The girls at the desk did... More

My daughter booked a weekend away to Edinburgh as a surprise for us to enjoy I had long wanted to visit this beautiful city. After doing a little geographical research and reading trip advisor reviews she settled on the Royal British hotel we had high hopes as it looked a perfect fit for us. Upon arrival we found the lift... More

We enjoyed our stay at Royal British Hotel, just in front of the train station and across the Old Town. It only takes 3-5mins walk to the rustic spots of Edinburgh. Everything is within reach 👍🏻 The hotel itself is cozy and intricately design for a comfort and Scottish feel of the place, plus a perfect view of the Old... More

Stayed here for one night recently and hotel is in a good location. There is a lot of work going on at the hotel and toilets, lifts were out of action and wet paint signs all through the corridors to my room. Room clean and tidy, shower good but grouting etc needs replacing. Room size average for a city hotel... More

The Royal British Hotel is very nice . It's in a really good location right opposite Waverley station and on Princes Street . We had room 507 which we found to be smallish but very quirky with a nice comfy bed . The on site restaurant looked very nice and it was quite busy so I would recommend booking unfortunately... I loved this hotel. Arriving at Edinburgh Airport, I took the Airlink 100 bus that drops you at Waverley Bridge. To my surprise and delight, the hotel is just across the road, on Princess St, so perfect for Waverley train station as well. During my stay, I was left in peace and quiet - perfect!. The room was a fabulous... More

Upon entering the room it was immaculately clean, lovely decor with the books for a wall , large bathroom with lovely rain fall style , walk in shower. I needed a central location for a combination of business meetings and social events in the evening. A very efficient check-in followed by an extraordinary surprise - the room! Newly refurbished with an enormous bed and large bathroom. Beautiful furnishings and everything you would need to find in the cupboards. Straight on to the well stocked bar with some excellent... We have just returned from a visit to the RBH for our honeymoon ( a mini one ) we loved the hotel, it was an amazing stay. Comfortable bed, beautiful room. Lovely view from our window, including the castle. Only downfall was our room service breakfast order wasn't taken. We can't fault the hotel or staff. We will definitely be... More

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighborhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
